This simply cannot be true.
You must mean that he only had time to empty 3 las mags (which is still impressive) rather than get off 3 las shots.

Necrons wins in any matter by technological advancement, but if the tomb world is awakening - then Tyranids wins by share speed. And to close this: evidence can be seen in DoW Dark Crusade and Soulstorm. Where just awakened tomb worlds are easily defeated.
My apologies if I gave the impression that the Tyranids would never reach the Necrons. Of course some of the Tyranid organisms will reach the Necron lines, taking some of them down and thereby out of the Battle-but not the war due to the self-repair capabilities of the Necrons. Mt point was that the necrons can reduce the biomas of the Hive Fleets without actually taking any meaningful losses themselves. Also, bear in mind that Necrons have one advantage that could prevent the Tyranids reaching them which is Teleportation around the battlefield, although the extent to which this is possible has been little realised in the fluff thus far.
And Scrabb has it correct in the speed of Necron space Travel. While the ground forces are ponderous the space fleets move with astounding speed and accuracy given how they don't use the warp. After all, speed was needed to infiltrate Mars. In the Word Bearers series a Necron Fleet appeared out of nowhere in the blink of an eye. Also, I do beleive in Battlefleet Gothic and the Necron Codex it states how Necrons can pull off near impossible feats of manouverability despite the speeds in which they travell. Add in the self-repair mechanisms of the ships and their space fleet is quite something to be feared.
I see how their "maneuverability" served them well on Kronus, Kaurava III, Malbrede, Medusa V...
Why do you keep using references from DOW? The game pan's out depending on which race you play, I'm sure if you played necrons you would see (for example) how quick imperial guard or space marines "maneuverability" fails them, seriously besides, you can't exactly consider the DOW games canon now can you?
To the OP, Well we have to presume that all the Necron encounters are really just 'Scouts' if you catch my drift, the Necron's conquered the WHOLE galaxy before, so they must have the amount of Necron soldiers that the Imperium has Guardsman, I would presume if the Necron's made a fleet of 30 ship and attempted to land on mars again, they would probably succeed seeing they managed to land on Mars with 3. If the Void dragon was released (Being the most powerful/leader of the C'tan) then he/she/it would awaken every Necron tomb world in the galaxy, simultaneously, as sooon as it realized that the universe was full of things to consume again (The C'tan must have some sort of mental awaking thingy in their minds )

I read it in Index Astartes III, "Defenders of Ultramar" . It says: "Their speed was unbelievable and I only managed to fire about three shots before they smashed into our line." Page 52. And to say further more that he describes before they could actually see them, Titans and artillery where pounding them hard - even so they reach them. Problem is that DoW games ARE cannon. Relic and GW stated that SM won at Kronus and IG won at Kaurava, game may not be realistic but the storyline is. I know that you may play as Tau or Necon or Ork - the fact is that GW give that liberty to please the non-Imperial players. And in the end again the Imperium rage supreme in every game.
Let's bet that the Retribution will end up same as the last two original Dow games. They will say which race won in the end.
