That's exactly the whole point of them dude!

They are so unrelenting, they have several fleets rather than a home world. The Eternal Crusader is the closest thing they have to a "home".

Besides, if nothing else convinces you this should: how many other armies have a special rule called "Kill Them All..."?????

Please check out my video battle report series! 50 games in 50 weeks!

maybe liking DAs is why i dont like BTs, since DAs kinda had the religious questing knight thing before the BTs.

Honestly it seems like you've just ignored every reason people have given you for liking them. How are they different? Largest Chapter by far. HATE payers to the point of not including them in the chapter's organization. They almost all wield chain swords. Different squad organization (no sergeants, includes neophyte and even cenobyte servitors are unique to them).

Everything other chapter you've given as am example could be dismissed just as easily as you do BT. Blood Angels? They only have death company. Dark Angels? Every chapter has a traitors.

I don't think code adhering chapters really deserve their own book. Where as BT are different enough to constitute one.

Edit: Scratch all that book nonsense. I was talking out my rear.

i haven't ignored anything, its just opinion. actually i agree with a lot of the points that have been made. others, not so much. neophytes aren't as interesting to me as the Death Company (who cares about scouts ) . BAs are already the bloody close combat guys, DAs already the crusaders... GW could have done more with BTs.

the fact that they are so large is cool, but GW hasn't really done much with that. in fluff or game terms that hasn't had much of an effect yet. It should.

Dark Angels are my favorite also.

SW, BT, and BA each require some special rules at their core. The SW Grey Hunter, Blood Claw make up and mentality and the Long Fangs just don't get solved my making a special IC and taking away the Smurf "run away" skill. BT use of novitiates, vows and lack of librarians means they again can't be simply refined by a special character. The extensive use of assault, death company, and others does not lend itself to a character defining them.

So unless DA get something unique to themselves, they could easily be absorbed into the monolithic C: SM with the addition of Belial and Sammiel ( who is a total waste in comparison to any generic captain on a bike.)

Works for Vikings too, they're just melee fighters...

Oh, and the Templars have DOZENS of Battle-Barges! No one else has that!

I don't have to love him at all for it.

Where I live, you can actually get ticketed for lingering with an intent to loiter.

On the topic of BT, I think they have considerable appeal just due to their inflexible nature and adherence to the old style crusades. Plus, the whole knighly feel sets them apart. The reason for them getting their own codex is that they don't follow the Codex Astartes so much in the way of FO doesn't apply to them.

Well said! When I play my battle buddy's Black Templars, I always say that they get mad when I shoot them. "Awww, they're pi@#$ed now! Here they come!" Then I shoot them some more.

As such the Black Templars still live on in the spirit of the great Crusade, adhering to the Council of Nikea(no psykers), and killing everything that is a mutant or disoyal to the Emperor.

I absolutely LOVE the BT! Prob my fave loyalist SM chapter, although I can't help but notice if you change the word 'Emperor' for 'Khorne' they just turn into a codex for Angrons Dominion of Fire... Man now THATS a campaign idea!
