I've been having good luck with a long fang unit w/3 ML and 2 Plasma Cannons, a cyclone terminator and a naked rune priest. I normally give the priest Living Lightning and Murderous Hurricane. The problem with this unit is that unless you run something in front to give the opponent something else to worry about, like a couple of drop pods of terminators. backed up with two squads of grey hunters it seems to work pretty well.

I would like to point out that you are paying 63 points for some more shots vs the 25 for the long fangs (and it is harder to kill 2 power armour models in cover then one wolf guard) also it hant ride transports.

I would rather advice to pay 18 for one more wound on the long fangs and then pot the heavy weapon with the wolf guards. eather a cheap ass flamer or missile launcher in the side armour when you come out of your drop pod.

It does mean they can't use a transport. I'd rather put a naked WG in a 5 man squad and stick them all in a razorback, personally. Dawn of War can really suck if you aren't able to get your LF in cover in one movement phase.

It does work ok, but there are definite drawbacks:
The point cost of the LF unit goes up dramatically compared to adding another LF.
The unit can no longer utilize rhinos and razorbacks.
The unit can only fire at 2 targets v. 3 if the CML were solo or in a different unit.

So make sure you have maxed long fangs first, then decide if you want to pay the points for two more missiles. Consider that you can also get an assault cannon which helps more against AV14.
