I would say probably phase technology.

Inertialess drives are credited mainly in BFG for their sub-light movement during battles.

Also, they aren't unique to them as the BFG rulebook lists Eldar Darkstar fighters as having inertialess drives.

But you carry on being a fanboy who cant believe that BL writers *really* dont get physics, m'kay? Apparently that explanation is too far beyond the pale to be acceptable...and no, I dnot concede, this just isnt the thread for it.

Back to the on topic people:

Teleport appears to be "short" range only, similar to IoM tech. The few times theyve mentioned space travel it isnt an instantaneous "blip", there is definitely travel time involved. The ship in Nightbringer does seem to exist in phase space, in order to wait out the slumber, but there isnt any indication they travel that way. I always thought wraiths dont exist in a separate space, but out of phase with our own - hence weakly interacting with normal matter, apparently enough to not sink through floors they dont want to sink through at any rate (whcih is what I loved about TNG: not only could they still breathe, but they only walked through walls, not floors...glaring hole there!)

Don't try to handwave BL books. What is so wrong about calcing the effect of a weapon for example?
I ask of you to provide BL quote and you don't so I guess you concede(I provide quotes often unlike you).I need a official statement from GW about BL not from you.

I don't think that IoM uses real life plasma reactors because they don't behave so(they explode when they're too damaged,a planet was totally destroyed by a planetary scale grid of plasma reactors during the 13th Black Crusade).

There are referances to phase space in the necron codex and some other white dwarf fluff when the necron BFG ships came out. Phase space is a Straight rip of Iain M Banks (Lets face it no sci fi is original). He describes phase space or 'infra space' as a 'skein' between two dimensions; in 40k presumably this would be between the warp and realspace, the dividing barrier of 'Phase' space between the two is limitlessly powerful a wall of infinite energy, tapping into this or indeed entering it would make for super fast propulsion. The Wraiths are said to 'Phase shift' so perhaps this is why necron ships remain 'visible' in realspace. I believe if people wikipedia the concept of 'Zero point energy' it would be the closests 'feasible' analogue to it in real life.
