Like most things in the nid codex, zoanthropes and hive guard success are highly dependant on the rest of the list. For example I run a winged dakkatyrant, 3x3 zoanthropes w/ spods 2x14 dakkagaunts w/ spods and 3 dakkafexes w/ spods. Great fun and haven't lost with them yet.

Now if I was running a footslogging list hiveguard would be in and most of the zoanthropes out, but it all comes down to the list in question.

Cool all poding list lucus! I would like try try one myself exept the pods are a pain to make. And I do not have 9 zoanthropes. :p

I could se a pod list as being good as you can hit on a lott of side armour.
