That's a terrible thing to do! Too bad that's not the case here, OP just disagreed with someone that's all.
He disagreed with several movies and then did not even consider the other 14:
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
The City of Lost Children
The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello
Mutant Chronicles
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
Dark Portals: The Chronicles of Vidocq
The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen
Brazil
Franklyn
Dark City
The Fall
Metropolis
Young Einstein
The African Queen
Honestly what's the point of your list? You liked two movies from my list which were more or less ones you forgot. Then you picked apart 8 more and decided to hell with the other 14. If you are going to shoot down every suggestion then you might as well write your list on a post-it-note and show it to your cat.
The simple thing would be to take the suggestions and categorize them. You have your true to concept movies like The Golden Compass and then the ones that helped inspire and develop the concept of Steampunk itself. Is is really that hard to make a few lists? You were obviously pretty bored or you would have never made the original list in the first place.

I what way is the African Queen steampunk?
Do the leeches wear goggles and gasmasks?
Young Einstrein is more punk and not a lot of steam.
Baron Munchhausen I don't recall much in the way of steampunk either.

Since you obviously didn't read where I said that I had to check out the other movies (I wrote it twice) this is wrong.

Ok seriously how old are you because you are throwing a big continuous fit that I didn't put every single movie you mentioned in my list and it is very very immature. Do you do this on every thread when someone dosen't answer your posts or use what you say?

No the simple thing for to do would be for you to pull your head out of your ass, stop trying to insult me because your pissed you won't get your way and realise that I'm not including the movies because I don't think they are Steampunk not because I'm looking for any specific "category". Here in the modern world people are allowed have their own opinions on things and they don't have to compromise on anything to make anyone happy. You are contributing absolutly nothing to this thread anymore and are just like a todler stamping his foot because he can't have a cookie. You said you where done with the thread, how about you do me a favor and do what you said you where going to do because I'm getting tired of telling you the same thing over and over.

I have contributed. You just don't like a few of my suggestions, so you are ignoring the rest.
BTW you need to try and take over the steampunk wikipedia. They disagree with you on quite a bit of stuff. Also you could make you responses shorter. I haven't really been reading the last few. I can tell from 5 or 6 words into it that you are just a rude person.
Btw have you checked out Franklyn yet? It definitely needs to be on your list. It is one of the most recent steampunk films to have surfaced.
What is your thoughts on Dark City as well? I keep seeing people in other steampunk discussions that consider it a steampunk movie because of the retrotech that the aliens use.
The environment is reminiscent of steampunk. The technologically-advanced alien civilization is kept entirely separate from the human environment — the only crossover is Kiefer Sutherland’s character, whose surgical equipment is characteristically steampunk. So, without calling every “futuristic alien movie” ever made “cyberpunk”, I don’t think you can really say there’s a strong cyberpunk visual element to Dark City.
Also check out The City of the Lost Children. Here is a screenshot that just screams Steampunk:
From the Steampunk wiki:
"The film contains a heavy steampunk atmosphere. Technological devices seem worn out and have rusted, suggesting that technological advancement has halted. The ocular implants are seemingly futuristic, but their art-deco styling and analog output are clearly anachronistic. Krank’s dream stealing machine and just about everything else in the lab of his floating fortress, are fitted with suction cups, vacuum tubes and pneumatic bladders"
Not too bad huh?

So if you want to see wikipedia as the word of god be my guest, but you seriously need to get over the fact that my opinion is differant then yours and that I really don't give 2 gaks about what you or anyone else classifies as steampunk or the differant "categories" so you trying to "prove" that the movies I'm not putting in my list are steampunk is a waste of time. Seriously, grow up and get over it.

Dude I just tried to get over it. You need to stop being rude and start contributing to your own thread or stop posting on it and just read "your list" to your cat. Because if you don't "give 2 gaks about what" I or "anyone else classifies as steampunk" then why the hell did you post the list in the first place? Are you practicing your typing skills or something?

As an actual steampunk, this answer offends me, from my brass goggles, to my buckle boots.
Steampunk isn't something you get to stick a definition to quite so easily my friend. It started off as a type of literature, before growing to encompass a visual aesthetic, an incredibly broad style of music, and a life philosophy. There are very few 'pure' steampunk films in this regard. Whether or not the films being recommended are 'steampunk' is irrelevant, as films you do have up there are not steampunk. Sherlock Holmes is not steampunk.
The way I see it, you're accepting some films as having a steampunk visual element, whilst denying others that have just as much of a claim to being 'steampunk' as sherlock does. This just makes your list nothing more than a sham, and a mockery of this grand old subculture of ours.
