Planning for the next campaign is all well and good, but it's not getting my province names put onto the map, is it? Numbering each province would be helpful too, so I don't have to keep switching between maps.

I can either put names/numbers on a map, or glue skeletons together with which to thrash you soundly later! BUT NOT BOTH! :0o
Actually, that's a complete lie, I spent the last hour painting naval scenery and boats, so I *suppose* I could update the map now..
[edit - now we have all the names, we don't need to use numbers, do we?]

What boat models are you using? (Links are nice.)

the Mighty Empires boats for cute little death ships,
ME dragon for a dragon
made the Ghost Ship out of cardboard and balsa wood roughly following some plans off t'interweb I'd downloaded a while back
GW never made any undead Man O War models :(
[edit to add photo]
They're only basic ones, but should be sufficient

Nah, you've lost now Leggy.
I was thinking about skirmish battles. I'm sure we can work it in some how. Automatically Appended Next Post: Ships are looking nice. I might have a quick browse for one now actually.
Where did tranquil waters come from? Automatically Appended Next Post: We've decided on roughly 1:1200 scale fro the ships Leggy, as they will be usable for most naval systems.

There were two territories left unnamed, and I didn't want to have to edit the map again, so cartographer's prerogative

Oh that reminds me; I bought a load of little ships from a kids game (~50 of them or so).
They are VERY basic, but they're about the right scale, so if anyone wants to use some, feel free.
They look like this:
Had you named them on the map, TP? I thought they were just "Sea 3", etc?

TP, I think your map is slightly wrong; Gaea's Blight should be still neutral, as Finch won't have captured it till the end of this phase?
Are you making the maps with Photoshop or something similar?
If so, I can send you a file with the map and icons and stuff, and you can just shifty them round/colour territories in?
Like so:
(round icons are fleets)

ahhhh, I see, is there a map of that turn?
i figured I'd make a nice animated map at the end of the campaign, so we can see how everything played out.
If you want the icons, let me know (it would mean we could tell whos fleet is whos)

There isn't a map but I have the turns in my box. I can can give you a copy next time I see you.
Will you put the music 'Who do you think you are kidding Mr Nurgle?' to it?
If you look carefully the fleet icons do have coloured flags.

Next turn we shouldn't have so much time to put in moves. You only get ten minutes or so in real diplomacy. A day +6hrs is too much by about 24 hours.

Yeah, tp, you've got this wrong. Finchy can't support Jordan. I'm attacking Gaeas blight. Nor can he support himself, as you can't support a support action, only a hold or a move (unless you guys had a rules meeting without me) Automatically Appended Next Post: You've made the same mistake, but suporting your own support actions at Karak Kaarn and Aldericks bay

Yes, Finch shouldn't be supporting Jordan. However he can support himself, when Gaea's Blight is attacked it's orders change to Hold. Same with mine, if someone had attacked Karak Kaarn then it couldn't have supported, it would have held and Aldrick's Bay would have supported it. Automatically Appended Next Post: 'A unit that is order to hold, convoy, support or not ordered at all can receive support in holding it's position.'

Oh, and Finch, if you read this: I am taking your refusal to accept the Idura Kaarn as a demilitarised zone as an act of agression. I consider our nations now at war. You have been warned.

Report for His Majesty King Aldrik XIV, Protector of Karak Kaarn & High King of the Dwarven Realms, on the actions of the 1st fleet of the Royal Navy.
4th Day of the 8th Moon 1742.
As ordered we weighed anchor at a bay marked as Makara Cove on our maps along what is known by the locals of this region as the Coast of Bones.
Not meeting any initial resistance I made the decision to personally lead a force consisting of a company of marines, a company of soldiers, one company of quarrellers split into two sections and supporting artillery into the interior.
We had established a position of control over the area when the enemy was sighted to our left flank.
The vampire lords of this region had raised a force of some considerable power, which included both infantry and cavalry, foul and rancid but of considerable strength. There was also among their number a beast that matched reports of those given at the rout of Kar Bismah.
As we prepared to engage with the enemy a third force appeared on our right flank. Our scouts returned with news that the elves of the north had also sent troops to capture this reason. By a brief parley we agreed that it was in both our interests to vanquish the undead legions and so an uneasy truce was established.
The forces of good now easily outnumbered those of evil and as such the Count’s army fell in no short measure. As the count himself succumbed to the elves, the undead legions began dropping like flies.
The primary objective now being fulfilled I decided it was time to try and secure the region in your majesty’s name, knowing full well the elves of the north would not be capable of holding back the tide of evil should we withdraw from the region.
The abhorrent, vampiric creature, known as a Vorgul, had been taken down by one of the sections of quarrellers. I personally was now committed, with the company of soldiers, to taking out the remainder of the undead force, held together by a lesser necromancer who raised the dead as soon as the fell.
Our right wing was held by the marines who engaged the elves in combat, loosing a large number to missile fire as they charged. Both elves and dwarfs suffered heavy looses on this flank, but neither side gave.
Unfortunately the elves were just too quick for our force, largely bogged down as it was by the remnants of the goulish army. We were forced to withdraw form our position and lost our hold on the area.
As such I deemed it prudent to return to the water where we are now safe from enemy attack and ready to strike again where we are needed.
Your humble servant,
Lord Admiral Horatio Lovepeice, 1st Admiral of the Royal Navies.

wrt retreating;
am I right in thinking when you lose a battle you retreat to where you attacked from, unless that territory is now occupied, in which case you retread to an unoccupied friendly territory in contact with where you're retreating from, or be destroyed?

That is correct, unless the territory is occupied by one of your own units which case you push that unit back. And it doesn't have to be a friendly territory, as long as it isn't occupied.
