It's a really fantastic hobby, and it's a lot easier than you'd think. A couple hours of work, a couple weeks fermenting, and another week in the bottles to carbonate and you get several gallons of the best beer you've ever had.

Unfortunately, with all my other hobbies, i 1)dont have money and 2) dont have space here where i live currently.

BUT, both the missus and I are interested in brewing our own beer, once we get back to the states.

Homebrewing? No.

Homedrinking? Yes. And I agree it's a fantastic hobby, and only takes a few hours a night!

Also, it's not the best, but:

The Shiner Old-time Ale was very smooth, almost creamy, but is likely going to be my least favorite of the bunch. Rather bitter.

Or a Heineken in Amsterdam, which is actually good, vs. anywhere else, where it's mediocre at best.

I prefer beer to most other alcoholic drink (let's face the truth: vodka and tequila have no taste and are only interesting in cocktails with little umbrellas)

Belgian beers are great!

And beers from Brittany are my favorites!

Yeah, a few years back my wife got me a kit from William's Brewing ( http://www.williamsbrewing.com/WILLIAM_S_HOME_BREWERIES_C9.cfm ) and I've made several batches of various beers ever since, though I have not done so since we moved into our current house a couple fo years ago. Very easy, and the results were always spectacular. Need to dig out the gear and get abatch going now that the weather has warmed up enough that I can ferment in the garage.

Ok, so finished my tour last night/yesterday then promptly passed out (in a good way). The Hefeweizen was almost spicy, if that makes any sense. I wish the finish was a little smoother for a lighter beer. Bock is what it is; when I say "I want a beer" that's the taste I'm imagining. Black might be favored over Bock, just for it's complete dark beerish goodness. Now I get to go to work... >.<

Meh. Never liked beer much. I prefer to drink things that have good taste instead... no beer I've yet drank has had that. A few mixed drinks have though.

Pfft - when I'm in Czech, I drink Staropramen. Was about 60p a pint when I was last there.

Nowadays in England, it's about 3 quid a pint haha.

One of the best things about being into beer is getting to drink the local brews whenever you travel.

I'm another home-brewer. I've got a keg installed in my game room loaded with whatever my most recent brew was.

I'm so jealous. I'd love to have kegging equipment. At least the bottles I keep using and re-using were essentially free, since I just saved up the bottles from the beer I had bought.

You should try the fruit flavored Belgian beers, it's unique. I think it's possible to find some in some US beer dedicated shops.

I gave up drinking about 6 months ago and am afraid to say I have been feeling the benefit ever since. Sorry!

I am a fan of Erdinger, Guinness and anything coming out of the local distilleries.

Beer is certainly an acquired taste.

Once you acquire it, you can taste it, and everything is right in the world.

I rarely drink much these days too, but that's mainly because it interferes with my weightlifting.

When I do drink, I like a nice, slow pint of something nice.

If im forced to drink beer it would have to be Carlton Draught or Boags Draught, both very good Australian beers although i prefer a nice bourbon or tequila.
