Exact list I run, only two variances are the Scout Combi-Plasma & Bolters (Sniper Rifles) I trade in for a PW on my Sang Priest.

I have also been running a list like so with some effectiveness:
HQ

Librarian jump pack, shield of sanguinus & unleash rage
Librarian jump pack, shield of sanguinus & unleash rage
Honour Guard jump pack & 4 x flamers

Elite

2 x Sanguinary Priests jump packs, 1x pw

Troops

10 x Assault Marines 2 x meltaguns - sgt w/ power fist
10 x Assault Marines 2 x meltaguns - sgt w/ power fist
10 x Assault Marines 2 x meltaguns - sgt w/ power fist
10 x Assault Marines 2 x flamers - sgt w/ power weapon
5 x Scouts Sniper Rifles & camo cloaks

Fast Attack

5 x Devastators 4 x missile launchers
5 x Devastators 4 x missile launchers
5 x Devastators 4 x missile launchers

It gears my HG out for more of a CC role due to their high number of attacks. Although I have been tempted to run HG as both Flamer/Meltagun although they become quite costly with 4x Melta & 4x Flamer in one squad!

TBH, I agree completely. I had 15 pts. left, so I put them there. I will probably exchange it for some MBs probably.

Diligently behind a rifle...

Interesting report. Tough luck playing against the most bland IG list I have ever seen.

Add infernus to the Priest if you have points to burn. Does make the Priest expensive but at least not risking in combat like a power weap.

So Mercer, thanks for the writeup. I appreciate your insight.

For the Guard army, what would be the correct deployment in this situation? Would it be advisable to reserve everything and let them deepstrike where they may? Or is it best to hope for mishaps?

You mean Angels army deployment or Guard? Or do you mean against Guard?

Guard deployment put the valuable vehicles inside the others, let the Angels pop ones you're not fussed about or with mass fire power which can deal with the Angels next turn or if some start dying you still have guns left. The Guard need to spread out but not too much to force mishaps or control where Angels are deep striking, mostly.

Thanks mate. So basically like a slightly spaced out castle, right. Would you say the middle of the table or edges is ideal? I guess a case could be made for both really.

Yeah spaced out castle with valuable units inside. Deploy centre of the board because if you deploy at the edge if gives more space for the Angels to deep strike, deploy centre you can space out more.
