Imperial guard scene the first day I started playing in 04,

I Play my guard as a Vetern Mercenary army, (there all heavly geard (due to looting everything they see)) There in a System thats been Block from imperial contact by a warp storm were the system is ruled by Familys and such and are always fighting, There use to be Imperial contact on the plantes but due to the warp Strom no one can get in or out, So its "safe" for my army to contuie there Practice of selling them selives to the highest bidder, I have a few orks / tau im my army as well, but just as troops, nothing speacial just to add a little flare to the mis,

my troop is know as the Tample Mercs,

I'm working on a tau army with a district 9 paint scheme.

I really wanted to play IG, but wanted them to be more Grim Dark. I wasn't sure what to do, or how to properly convert then into a band of Bandits/Thugs/Merc/Army for hire.

So I decided that the Chaos Gods should strip the IG of everything that made them humans. Including their Flesh. So I wanted an army of skeletons for my IG.

Somethinf I always thought about doing was an IG army that was Zombies, and had a Vampier Lord as the Lord commisar for the HQ, and for all the troops zombies and skeletons, Like Helsing

I had a smashing idea in the shower the other day (where most ideas come from I believe).

A favourite series of mine is the 'Game of Thrones' novels by George R. R. Martin. HBO is currently producing a TV series based on the first novel. The series is due to air in April and I for one .. am excited (esp now Spartacus has finished).

For those familiar with the books it would great to build a Space Wolves successor chapter themed around the Stark family and their direwolves. With banners and tanks emblazoned with 'Winter is coming'. Captain armed with 'Ice' and Jon Snow character with 'Longclaw'.

A medieval/kinght theme carrying through the entire army, all of which are positioned on snow/winter bases would look great. The Chapter iconography would mirror that of house stark of course.

Just a thought, if I had the $$ and the time you'd be reading this in a WIP blog. But alas ...

I would love an entire orks freebooter army, Led by Kaptin Badrukk.
You could cover the orks in gold chains and gold teef, and give them spaceship bases.

i already did my theme, but its very simple, nothing but chimera chassis for guard (and a few sentinels) its the chimera forge world of jordanis (my invention) and they converted power lifter sentinels for war.

Cross- over army wood-elf with craftworld Alaitoc, replacing shuriken weapons with hi-tech bows and similar. For use in 40k of course.

Tyranid army that looked more like bugs, proper foldback wings like a beetle and black-blue monochrome colours.

And of course the red revolution, grots every where led by da' Red Gobbo (for those of you that remember him). Now that FW made the grot tanks this idea is even more appealing.

But I really don't need to start an additional army right now but instead finish one or two of my ongoing projects.

Remembered a few of my others.

Cyborg chaos marines that worship khorne and sacrifice parts of there bodies to him and replace them with bionics. Led by a former IH captain whose bionics where possessed by a daemon virus.

Space Marine chapters based off of each of the main IG regiments. Knights Aquilla=Cadian, Desert Eagles=Tallarn etc.

An Apocalypse force called the Angelus Crusade that's nothing but Grey Knights and Sanguinary Guard.

Themed army's is the only explanation why I want 3 different Space Marines Chapters. I struggle with resisting the temptations of building themed army's everyday of my life! Right now I have 7 army's I want to build in mind....does anyone think realistically that is too many?

Nope ya just have to have the patience to do them all, I'm just now re-doing my Tau into a volcanic themed force which is something I wanted to do when I first got the army. Plus if you wait then the ideas that really stick with you will stand out and the ones you no longer like won't be an option anymore.

I still would like to do an Alienids army. I have also thought about doing my orks like the guys in the Road Warrior. You could just about do it with a paint scheme, but I would like to have some flavor like the guy with the hockey mask.

Slater: A Malal Chaos army would be awesome. Honestly I knew of no such Chaos god until you posted that.

A gothic themed Necron army. More VC than Khemri looking with a Mausoleum instead of a Monolith, overgrown with ivy and the gauss weapons mounted in stone gargoyles on each corner. Flayed ones galore and tomb spiders that actually look like spiders.

Maybe one day.

I have had if possible too much theme ideas! IG converted zombies, human flash gits, IG death from above. and alot more.

Mid Heresy Death Guard, using the FW kits and trying to make it accurate to the HH novels. Would be such fun to create but such a financial drain. I've also thought about pure footslogging Guardsman and AirCav Elysians

I've had a few that I thought would be fun over the years:

Tron Inspired Tau - using converted Cadian infantryman (done to look like video game warriors) with discs for Firewarriors, Light tanks for Hammerheads, Logic Probes for Broadsides, bits for drones, etc

WW2 American GI Imperial Guard - Airborne company, no tanks, just foot sloggers with jeeps as count as sentinels, bars as plasma guns, .30 cal heavy bolters, some kind of sticky bomb thrower for melta guns, etc.

Halo Themed Kill Team/Combat Patrol - haven't decided on the best army for this, but Spartans as either a Terminator or Vet Sg with Iron Halo (possibly being Grey Knights), then ODSTs as either scouts (if using marines) or Stormtroopers (STs are difficult as they don't carry some of the weapons I'd want, i.e. Spartan Lasers and SPKRs), mod up a warthog as a landspeeder/dreadnought, or sentinel

I wanted to do a Cobra Command themed IG army, but couldn't find the correct type of heads.

I've thought of a Cobra or GI Joe themed IG as well. Good call.

My newest idea (yeah I switch fast) is a Dark mechanicus army- unlike the others I actually intend to make this one. The plan is to include a lot of daemon engines and servitors. I hope to play it as tyranids (sounds odd but it lets me have a lot of daemonic walkers and cheap servitors). Not sure if people would be happy to play it but if they don't i'll still make it just to display.

The plan is to have converted deff dreads as carnifex, a defiler standing on two legs as a tyrannofex, rogue tech priests (with mechanical additions) as warriors and ghouls with injectors and gas masks as hormogaunts.

Bloodpact Mech IG with Mutants for conscripts. I just love converting mutants so much.

Im currently trying to sort the best way to do a Word bearers Chaos Marines list, while trying to use the Dark Apostle, First Acolyte and Warmaster. But im struggling trying to fit them in. But lots of Dark angels robes for the HQS and elites.

And gonna butcher a chaos icon for a massive Dark Crozius.

Space Wolves is probably the best for Word Bearers imo, you can use Bloodcrushers for TWC as someone else is doing, and use customized wolf guard as various other daemons (and Wolf Scouts for lighter daemons) Fenrisian Wolves are good for the "Beast" daemons too.

Been thinkin about a Private Mercenary army. IG vets ,Ogryn couple of aircraft, some tanks and sentinels. Give 'em a cool Commander but use minimal orders. Paint them up in non camo-pattern scheme. they could play loyalist or renegade, highest bidder wins. What do you guys think?

if you do the Merc IG army, You could use a Lord Commissar as your cool commander.. use a different model (or the same, but not painted in"commissar" colors) as the lord commissar cant give out orders, it works well for the theme.

Spartan/Roman Space Marine Army has always tickled my fancy. Triarii esque SM tactical squads, the Scouts would be made to look like skirmishers, and the terminators would be praetorians. Then maybe have a side IG force used to represent Misc. Greek nations conquered by the Romans.

I'm half tempted to change my IG up. Use Cadian bodies (instead of my wargames factory greatcoats), and make a Canuck themed army...

All the Infantry would be painted blue with green/white stripes on the sleeves and base of the shirt, with the C orca design on the chest. and all the Chimera would be painted up like Zamboni machines.

A Titan legion.

I still want to creat a good Ordo xenos army with SM IG and inquisitors as the main force
