I think the AoBR plastics look great, the terminators are so cheap on eBay I've often though I'll bag a few sprues for Space Hulk and other stuff. Especially as the regular plastics are silly money IMO. The marines are great, I don't understand anyone's problem with them beyond snobbery, because the starter box is an excellent by, hand full of marines, terminators and a dreadnought!!

Then again I was brought up on 1st ed Space Hulk and 2nd ed 40K marines, and monopose really meant it back then, they weren't very dynamic looking at all. You needed a bit of nice painting and a lot of imagination.

In fact currently my entire SM army, bar the vehicles, are AoBR based (The commanders are a Chaplain and Librarian in Terminator armor, both converted from the Stock AoBR Terminators). Likewise, my Ork army, bar the Killa Kanz, are all AoBR Nobz and Boyz (the Big Mek is a leftover Nob).

This +1

I gave all my Terminators chainfists by cutting up some of the Chain weapons that come with a Chaos Terminator Lord and one has an assault cannon taken from the DA veteran kit (which also provided my Librarian and parts of my chapter master), turned the Terminator Lord into my chapter master who has the BR captains sword.

With alot of cutting I attached the BR captains front torso to a normal marine back and gave him tactical marine legs, shoulder guards, a back pack, powerfist and combi weapon and a cape from HE archers. And the loader arm from the BR missle launcher was turned into my Techmarines servo arm.

The dreadnought became a Deffdread with one of its cc weapons being the BR warboss' PK, my old warboss (I'm remaking my Ork army) had a Ogre Ironfist as his PK since I didn't like the original pose, the Nobs are being turned into Mega Meks (counts as Obliterators), I'm putting a KMB on a Deff Kopta (I just want to model it) and the Boyz became apart of the green tide.

Bottom line, AoBR makes a great source for conversion bits

Good for conversions plus you get the deffkoptas that you'd have to convert otherwise and there easy to give big shootas

Gymnogyps also has it bang on in that it gives you a lot less restraint in converting, since there's really no fear of messing it up. I get 5 Terminators for 20 bucks. As long as I get 2 terminator characters out of it, It's a net gain (1 terminator character costs 18 bucks, so 2 would have costed me 36 bucks). It's also really good if you're trying to assemble a chapter or Green tide, as it would be horribly expensive otherwise.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

No. They are fine. If you want more poseable models, get the normal ones, but unless you have 2 identical pose warbosses you are fine.

I absolutely hate working on monopose models, but that will not stop me from playing against em, heck a games a game so long as you ahve fun, if your opponent is to much of a snob to battle you just because your using AOBR marines they need a

Nothing wrong with AoBR models. I've got 2nd and third edition box set marines in my army and if they didn't have all the Ultra iconography and unit symbols, I'd probably add some AoBR models. Whether or not you convert (though there are a few easy conversions that can be done quickly) them and how much of your army they comprise is entirely up to you. Just play what you like. This is an expensive hobby and any way to get more players involved more affordably is a good thing in my book.

A couple snobs at the LGS may give you a hard time, but since when did you care what a few snobs thought?

The Defkoptas convert nicely into war buggies or biker boyz. I wouldn't care less if someone used all AoBL

Over half of my Ork Boyz are AoBR.

All of my Ork Nobz are AoBR.

The AoBR Terminators converted easily with the extra bits from the Space Wolf Terminator box set, enough to make them look Wolfy.

And as a cheap way for new players to start playing I think AoBR is something that should be praised and suggested.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

Rather mono-pose than unpainted.

Weeeeell, they're easier to field unpainted, since they don't need any work on them xD

Change around the bolters, backpack and bodies you don't have to have many that look identical, even. if they did space marines all wear pretty much the same armour, carry the same standard weapon anyway. The four terminator in the box can all be unique when you swap the half bodies, storm bolters and powerfists up.

If anyone turns their nose up, at least you aren't proxying tell them they're the one with the issues.

far too many points and still painting...

Do people really complain about AoBR models? I mean, they're GW models. They're well made (that Ork Boss is AMAZING). If somebody told me I couldn't use AoBR models in a game, I'd tell them they couldn't play their army. I don't think anyone is uptight enough to refuse to play against AoBR models, but if they do, they take the game too seriously and don't deserve to play.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
