Had this pointed out to me on Underempire:

"Meanwhile Mark Bedford’s current project is a very large monster, and rather more dedicated to the Horned Rat..."

According to ScarryWabbit:

"I was talking to Mark Bedford at games day last year when he was on the Warhammer Forge stall. He was saying he was sculpting a Horned Rat[Vermin Lord] model for his Skaven army because the GW one was to small."

Wonder if the two have a connection. Here's hoping, although anything Skaven is welcome by me and bad news for my wallet.

I have to say, after the disappointment of the sad land-griffon and the nurgle troll/ogres I am thoroughly impressed with these sets from Forge. I think the handgunner set is done particularly nicely (referring to the detail) for a rank-and-file model however the 25 pound for the bodies does make me somewhat hesitant to purchase them on top of buying a full plastic set. Nonetheless had I an Empire army this would be a serious consideration for my next forgeworld order. The Land Ship is also very impressive, and the rules seem at face value to be quite a wierd by wonderful experience to play.

@Platuan4th: They always said that big Skaven monstrosities are planned for Warhammer Forge, so this sounds right.
And as Forge World and Warhammer Forge sculptors mostly do what they like, it is good to know that Mark Bedford has a Skaven army

It's on the way I think? Rumours are that they are doing God specific armies for the big 4.

Yes, but each God is getting it's own book (assuming that is still the plan with the departure of Mr. Priestly). So it'll be awhile before we get to the next book.

I was going on the angle of things like Nurgle Chaos Warrior/Chosen/Forsaken kits, Pestigor, maybe a better Beast of Nurgle.

Should have been more specific.

Yeah, I just wasn't expecting one soon. I thought I'd have to wait until at least Book 2, more likely Book 3.

If they did a good amount of WF Skaven, I could see me quitting buying 40K and Warmahordes for a while.

Fantasy wise it appears to be an angry Chaos Dwarf, 40k-wise a blinged up Astartes champion of sorts.

Yeah, supposedly each God specific army will feature in a specific 'campaign' book.

Nurgle v. Empire, Tzeentch v. Dwarfs, Khorne v. Bretonnia, and Slaanesh v. High Elves if I remember it right.

I was told Tzeentch vs. Lizards, Khorne vs Dwarves and Slaanesh vs Elves (High and Dark).

Dark Elves are supposedly on the same side as Slaanesh, but that's not completely unheard of.

I'm not really remembering Lizards being involved, but it could be a two-pronged thing with Tzeentch.

Fateweaver fluff. He wants something the Lizardmen have.

Dark Elves siding with Slaanesh would go back to the (now illegal) Storm of Chaos book. It would be funny, because then I'd have another reason to show my Storm of Chaos FAQ with it's first question of "Will Storm of Chaos continue to be supported by GW. Answer: Yes" to members of GW management and make things uncomfortable.

And I'd hate to make things uncomfortable for my local store staff.

Dark Elves have sided with Slaanesh since before that book.

Slaanesh is the whole reason the Dark Elves exist.

So no, it's not really "Will Storm of Chaos continue to be supported by GW".

You know that, and I know that, but it's still a good reason to give GW Management a hard time about the stupid things people hire up the food chain continually do. (like summer campaign books)

You know what you and I both also know?

That campaign books are not going to be continually supported once two editions of the game pass.

But hey. You can be obnoxious to GW staff all you want.

Here's hoping for a new Cult of Slaanesh Dark Elf list in the book. My poor DE have sat in a box since the new book came out.

Seconded!

I really liked the Cult of Slaanesh Dark Elf stuff from... back then.

It was a shame to see it go...

I wasn't really a fan of the Cult of Slaanesh Dark Elf list.

It just wasn't that...interesting compared to things like the Sea Patrol or Clan Eshin lists.

Actually, I thought that wasn't true. As I recall, Morathi worships Slaanesh, but this is considered heretical by most Dark Elves, including her son. He uses Dark Magic, rather than the lore of Slaanesh, and is also - like most Dark Elves - a worshiper of Khaine.

Have they changed the fluff since then?

Also, googled, saw this:

The fluff has basically always been that Morathi has her own little coven of followers, devoted to Slaanesh. They're tolerated, and occasionally actually have large amounts of power---but Khaine is the 'main' deity of the Dark Elves.

...And? It's Warseer. They post all kinds of stupid crap over there as 'background' material--and they believe it too.. I was at one point given a warning for pointing out to someone how very wrong he was about Cadia being "blown up" during the 13th Black Crusade.

While normally I would agree, this jives with my own memories of the Dark Elf fluff, so I'm not too certain...

I'm with Kan on this one, it is as it has always been.

If one of these Chaos books allows even a slight return of the Cult of Slaanesh, aw man my wallet is going to be ticked with me.

Don't know what to tell you then, because that's pretty much what I've got in three different Dark Elf army books.

Bear in mind: when I say "Slaanesh is the reason the Dark Elves exist", I'm not saying "They all worship Slaanesh".

I'm saying that Slaanesh is the reason for the Dark Elf/High Elf split. Which it is; the fact that he 'suppressed the Pleasure Cults' was how Malekith got into power. His mother was in charge of the Pleasure Cults and she wanted him put into power--so of course he could suppress them.

The Pleasure Cults still exist in Dark Elf society, they're just kind of a second tier group.

Yep. Every so often, when Malekith and the bigwigs of the Khainites go elsewhere the Pleasure Cults come into power and go wild.
