Seems as if the models are getting a bit, for lack of a better term, sillier?

I don't see how they're getting sillier. The Artificer, despite not wearing leg armor fits the Retribution look perfectly. Like it or not, that's how they have been since release. While not a huge fan of their look myself, I do appreciate that they look very different than the other factions as they are a very different race compared to the Iron Kingdoms. As for the Clenser Officer, he looks like the Clensers with an Officer's hat and chain that almost all the high ups in the Protectorate have. He's a Clenser, and they've been around since the first expansion book came out years ago.

Is it just me or does every Retribution model look better in concept/artwork than in reality?

It's a look that grows on you, imho. I like all of these models

(But it could be that I just heavily invested in a trollbloods army, and so my mind has no choice but to like the look of the models to justify the investment!)

@HBMC I think its the paint scheme. The sketch drawings have the black lines, where the models have the white shades.

Maybe a black lined paint job on the models would look good.

I do think it has a lot to do with the studio paint scheme. The less armored models look much, much better and seeing other, darker paint schemes make them look better. The vast white plates just don't seem to work, and is the biggest problem with the Retribution.

I think that it is more to do with the conversion from true scale concept art to heroic scale miniature. The artificer miniature's armour piece bit is much bulkier then the artwork's version.
