It happens before close combat.
Hence, has no initiative at all.

Thats true actually. It beats even initiative 10 and still counts towards combat resolution.

I actually like the dude. Apart from the rediculous special rule about his sword, he is in fact quite kick-ass. I mean, as long as he gets the charge in, you can cast cleansing flame, go to defencive stance and just keep things like that. his cleansing flame is initiative 10 remember! it attacks first. whatever is left after that will find it incredible hard to kill him. even better if you manage to get him base to base with your opponents general. if crowe dies, theres a %60 chance (after the psychic test) that youre taking any non vehicle out of the game with him. I mean seriously. hes insta-killing a c'tan, and we all know that a c'tan is nigh on impossible to beat 1-on-one. even drago would get raped.

Heroic Sacrifice can remove ANYTHING he is in base contact with. even vehicles.

and Draigo actually would have a pretty good shot at killing a C'tan.

C'tan are actually fairly easy to get rid of with GKs in general. they arn't immune to ID. a Libby with hammerhand, might of titan, and Quicksilver would pop the God in a Can faster then you can say "fuuuuuu....."

I must've missed the part where it said 'any model'. thats discusting if you charge a stationary monolith lol.

I thought c'tan, being living gods and everything...would have eternal warrior. if so, then a force weapon wouldnt harm the c'tan. Besides, as they are toughness 8, even a hammerhand draigo is wounding on 6's (unless c'tan count as psychic or daemons, which i doubt).

The monolith has to be able to actually kill you in combat, however.

The necron codex was written in 3rd edition. The eternal warrior rule was created in 5th edition. NO, ctan do NOT have EW.

A squad of 5 GKT with halberds (so I6, faster than any Ctan), and either hammerhand OR might of titans from a librarian have, without charges:

5x2A x 1/2 x 1/6 x 1/2 = 5/12 chance of causing a wound. They then have a damn good chance of passing their psychic test.

Not g'teed, but pretty good odds.

His fluff is awful. The purifiers are already suspect ("we're purer than pure!") and he compounds that ("I'm purer than the guys who are purer than pure! suck my pureness!").

Not being able to join squads also hurts him quite a bit.

Fluff for the Fluff God!

'Death or glory' counts as close combat doesnt it? if youre using a close combat weapon. or are you only allowed to use a shooting attack? (its bin awhile).

if death or glory can be a close combat attack, and you get hit during it, wouldnt you be able to use heroic sacrifice?

Except heroic sacrifice can only be done in the assault phase and DoG happens after tank shocking, which is in the movement phase

As above. Movement /= Assault phase.

(and yes, you can use a close combat weapon if you want)
