My main issue is that I will NOT enter my local GW store and I have no other local store.
I have to wait until the postie delivers my codex to me.
GW's website never works properly for me (could be because EVERY frikkin' firefox upgrade loses the previous cookie for the site).

I hate him. Originally, he was going to be a shoe in for my army. Purifiers as troops, and a super powered champion? Sign me up!
Unfortunately, the head Purifier can't join any Purifier squad. Whats worse, he buff the enemy just as much as he buffs his own army. What the feth kind of special character gives the enemy Furious Charge and Liturgies?

Thats really strange. Although Guardsmen and Taus dont benefit to much from that.

He's up there for worst special character in the entire game.
Just take him as a 150 write-off that lets you take purifiers as troops. Don't expect him to actually do anything of value.

I could understand if he had more wounds as in prolonged combat he does will with 4+ rending and high iniative and WS however he takes minor squads and if you send him
against a powerful character he can kill with his heroic sacrifice. also doesn t he have the purifiers psychic power so he can wound the whole unit on 4+

I'd have to be wanting to take more than 3 squads of purifiers to take crowe which would mean investing a lot of points into purifiers which are going to cost a lot more than strike squads. You're basically looking at a purifier army which will be quite small and without the grand strategy. Plus Crowe would just end up cowering behind some piece of terrain all game.
Shame really but if I want purifiers, I'd rather just keep them as elites and make do with having no more than 3 squads of them.

i tried to make a army list at 1500 pt it contained 20 purifers 3 squads 1 big 2 small crowe an expensive inquis to go with larger squad land raider redeemer kitted out and 2 razorbacks tl assault cannon st 7 rending with psy bolts looks pretty good in a agressive assault role.

Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

None of you have considered the fact that he has a:
Poisoned 4+ sword, a power weapon against anything t4 or higher, potentially penetrate armour 11 with his sword, takes roughly 100 CC wounds to kill him in defensive mode AND he has cleansing flame.
So he can SLAUGHTER hormagaunts. Outflank him with grand strategy and try to get a charge off (cant remember if you can charge after reserve ^o) anyway )

Is it at all possible that he was meant to be an Independent Character and they just plain missed it?
Stuff like this has happened before, and they have rectified it after the event... The most blatant example I can think of is the previous incarnation of the Chaos dex (I'm thinking Tughness 5 Oblits becoming 4(5)), and I am sure their have been others.

tbh i think he is a secret beast also he will just defend on the turn the enemy get the charge bonuses etc then he can just retaliate with his 4+ wound on everything a turn im reading the leaked dex but it says it can be cast every assault phase yours or your enemies

Looks like people are split on this one.
I actually like the dude. Apart from the rediculous special rule about his sword, he is in fact quite kick-ass. I mean, as long as he gets the charge in, you can cast cleansing flame, go to defencive stance and just keep things like that. his cleansing flame is initiative 10 remember! it attacks first. whatever is left after that will find it incredible hard to kill him. even better if you manage to get him base to base with your opponents general. if crowe dies, theres a %60 chance (after the psychic test) that youre taking any non vehicle out of the game with him. I mean seriously. hes insta-killing a c'tan, and we all know that a c'tan is nigh on impossible to beat 1-on-one. even drago would get raped.

@cromedog.
The OPs Avatar is Crowe's picture.
I like Crowe. he is actually the right cost if you ask me. regular Brotherhood champions cost 50 points less, then he pays 50 points to make Purifiers troops. thats frikkin awsome.
the advantages he give to enemies only applies if they charge him, not if he charges them.
He isn't supposed to be an IC and never will be. His purpose is to make Purifiers troops and then make himself annoying as possable. He is also the ultimate Tarpit. Bladeshield basically makes him unkillable while Cleansing Flame can do damage. he can tie an entire Orkmob up forever with that stance, while annhilating them with cleansing flame.

Cleansing flame is not initiative 10...
It happens before close combat.
Hence, has no initiative at all.

Heroic Sacrifice can remove ANYTHING he is in base contact with. even vehicles.
and Draigo actually would have a pretty good shot at killing a C'tan.
C'tan are actually fairly easy to get rid of with GKs in general. they arn't immune to ID. a Libby with hammerhand, might of titan, and Quicksilver would pop the God in a Can faster then you can say "fuuuuuu....."

this statement contradicts itself.
He can't be the worst if he lets you take one of the best troops choices out there.
true, he usually dies without doing much, but thats ok. he has paid for himself many times over.

I'm fine with the model and some of the background but the rules aren't that good in my favor , yes the ability to have Purifiers as troops is great advantage but his Sword of evil helps the enemy as well. Still since the Kids at the store won't care for tactics and his rules they'll simply get the model because it looks cool.
