Oh right, missed his last line. Yeah I agree, it's bad enough with people buying money with bucks. And I wouldn't be all that annoyed if the items were still available without paying, but it always (to the best of my knowledge) end badly for the guys that can't throw bucketloads of money in the game.

Now that could be fun! We could hear about a young pathfinder so skilled with a markerlight that he once blinded an entire horde of termagants, then quietly snuck through them to kill the dreadful Doom of Malantai in hand to hand combat and took its tentacle as a trophy.

Exiles? What does that mean? Exodites? I'm not too familiar with Eldar.

[edit: that preorder is "fake". It's not like the game is up for preorder, it's just a store thing... Heck, they haven't even announced a YEAR of release... I'd say mid 2012.]

I remember about a year ago, one of my friends was addicted to an FPS that you had to use real $ to buy the better guns. He stopped playing it before he spent a lot, but there were people on that game who had dropped like 5-10 grand on that game, for virtual weapons. I try to avoid those games like the Plague, once you get one thing, you always want more.

I'm certainly going to give this game a go, but it's not going to be out for some time yet. I like the idea of a 3rd person action-oriented shooter MMO. I'm so going for guardsman so I can be some dude with piles of grit and massive balls of steel who can call himself equal to superhumans and xenomorphic horrors. Though playing a sneaky nimble heavy armor guy with a chainsaw sword in the form of a striking scorpion would be neat too.

I'm also happy with what I've seen of the gameplay footage; looks to be a third person shooter where you can use MMO-style abilities, closest-looking game, in my eyes, is Battlefield Heroes.

I'mma playing some kind of Eldar; either a Warlock or a Banshee (if you can play as the latter )

Even if this fails miserably I shall buy it and I shall hug it and I shall name my copy Lucky and I shall wuv my Lucky and I shall play with him everyday and it shall be glorious.

Seriously though I played wow for a fair while but ended up getting soooooo sick of: click that quest giver, blah blah blah kill x of y, right click y, repeat. That and all the crappy story stuff, I could not stand all the horde/alliance team up stuff in litch king.

Hopefully this shall be better

I would hate it if it went free, the updates would be few, and there would most likely be a micro transaction system. I'd rather pay 10-15$ a month for solid gameplay, then having to pay 5 dollars for every piece of armor.

One of the ways they were talking about was that the 'underdog' faction would have an easier time requisitioning the heavy hitting stuff in RvR.

So, say you're on the Forces of Order. Your server has a far higher population of Disorder players than Order players, averaged out over the various 'level brackets'.

When it comes to the RvR 'open warfare' setups, where you're capturing objectives or defending cities, etc--Order can acquire tanks, orbital assets, and the like far quicker and more often than Disorder can. Disorder also doesn't necessarily have an easy time acquiring those assets, because the requisitioning will take longer due to more people utilizing the system and all.

At least that's the impression I was given from what they talked about.

Will see, they tried something like that in WoW to. Problem is you could kill 10 or more players with ease but since there were so many of them, they could contest and multi-task alot better. Unless they expect the underdog to be more "organized" which the day I see a competitive game with more then 16 players acutely working a solid plan would be a day.

No, they didn't try anything like that in WoW--especially if you're referring to Wintergrasp/Tol Barad. Wintergrasp's attempt at "balancing" population was flawed simply because it did nothing to improve your actual character abilities, they simply upped your health and armor levels--and even then that didn't help the turrets that were supposed to counter vehicles.

If they'd wanted to really "balance" those situations, you would have had things like Rogues' Mutilate ability inflicting AoE damage, Hunter pets having AoE effects on their abilities, Warrior Taunts affecting players, and so forth.

Unless they expect the underdog to be more "organized" which the day I see a competitive game with more then 16 players acutely working a solid plan would be a day.

The day I see a MMO that's designed from the ground-up to have a "competitive" PvP system is the day I start farting unicorns and pissing rainbows.

You just cannot have a "competitive" gameplay experience when more than 2 people are involved. Hell, even when you have 2 people it's not guaranteed.

*ahem* I have to say you are sadly misguided by your (probable) lack of knowledge in the field of MMOGs. There ARE (or were at the very least) MMOGs with competitive gameplay experience. Most of them were shunned for this reason, still it doesn't make them less real. Neocron was one of such games... Full pvp world except a few, very limited, places (where you traded and lived but nothing else), no factions (well almost, but in truth in the world outside you could basically kill whoever you wanted to without much problems) and quite decent balance between levels (though balance between classes was sometimes skewed).
Planetside, being a true mmofps, is one of such games as well, but being a kind of FPS it's easier to build for strictly competitive gameplay.
WAR, while it has (or had, stopped playing some time ago) many shortcomings could be played completely forgetting the pve side of the game and going the full pvp route, both through battlegrounds and open pvp areas.

Also organized gameplay is the staple of good clans/guilds. Don't blame the masses if they aren't capable of playing in an orderly manner... They are, after all, masses. Groups, even quite large, of people can work in coordination in such games. The mass pvp of DAoC and WAR is an example, clan wars in many games is another. "Empire" wide operations in planetside are very common and don't even need clans to work.

So, yes, it can be done, as it has been done already. Will this be the case? I sincerely hope so. They seem to be going the WAR route which, if realized correctly, is good enough for me. Will they succeed? I have no freaking clue... Still, it's not impossible.

[Edit: I realize the first period may sound offensive. It is not my intent. It's just that I have played so many different MMOGs that I can claim to have quite an experience in the "field"]

What the feth is Neocron?

Planetside, being a true mmofps, is one of such games as well, but being a kind of FPS it's easier to build for strictly competitive gameplay.
WAR, while it has (or had, stopped playing some time ago) many shortcomings could be played completely forgetting the pve side of the game and going the full pvp route, both through battlegrounds and open pvp areas.

WAR was built exclusively with PvP in mind, PvE was an afterthought.
So of course you could play it "completely forgetting the pve side of the game".

"Organized gameplay" isn't the "staple of good clans/guilds". They're the staple of good players. It's entirely possible to stomp "clan/guild" groups made up of crummy players.

So there goes the 'competitive' aspect right out the window there there.
So, yes, it can be done, as it has been done already. Will this be the case? I sincerely hope so. They seem to be going the WAR route which, if realized correctly, is good enough for me. Will they succeed? I have no freaking clue... Still, it's not impossible.

They're actually going no real particular "route" according to the interviews. They're seemingly trying to do both PvE and PvP as two separate entities, which might have a few overlaps in the form of missions or objectives.

[Edit: I realize the first period may sound offensive. It is not my intent.

I really don't care about that it "may sound offensive". The important thing to realize here, that they're wanting to accomplish with Dark Millenium is accessibility. They want the WoW population numbers. They want people to be able to play it on 5+ year old machines, without needing to spend a fortune to upgrade their PCs. They want people to be able to just hop in and 'be competitive'.
It's just that I have played so many different MMOGs that I can claim to have quite an experience in the "field"]

So you've got experience in wasting time? Congratulations, I'll have a medal shipped out to you tomorrow.
