The problem is that the nation is victimising the people.
Have I understood correctly?

This is utter nonsense. The only 'states rights' in question were the northern states refusing to enforce legislation that would require them to send escaped slaves south. Everything else the south wanted was about tariffs, rules for new territories, and slavery (which wasn't even in question at the state level until after the south started shooting and the north needed recruitment material, they wanted *other* states to be slave states too).
Nor does might make right. An issue is not settled because two groups of people kill each other for a while and one group proves to be better at it.

The biggest problem is teenagers and students with free internet access and nothing better to do than mess around on the Internet.

My apologies. I am no civil war historian, and have only the background knowledge provided by the American educational system.
My understanding of the situation leading up to the civil war was that they felt the states should have the final say in just about everything, hence state's rights. I thought that was the reason the southern states withdrew from the union, and started combat.
After that point, I thought the federal government had slowly been expanding its power and control over the states- I certainly can't remember any power that the federal government has surrendered to the states recently.
Thanks for clarifying that for me!

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.

How is this a problem only with younger members? Frazzled, Gailbraithe, Dogma, etc aren't exactly spring chickens.
