in seriousness they have great vehicles and they fight knowing they will most likely die. plus they are kinda like a normal army.

Guardsmen, even Marneus called them braver then space marines.
He said that they are braver because they leave behind their family, friends, and life to go fight under equipped and sometimes under prepared to fight the horrors out in the universe that are so much more powerful then they. This from the bravery aspect.
On the table top, most of the time its as one sided as a fight between A Baby, and a specially adapted Baby Kicking Super Mutant. So they're good there too...for now.
