I remember buying FFXIII new and then selling it the next day. I bought a copy of Lost Odyssey (I originally played my brother's copy) to satisfy my Final Fantasy need.

FFXIII gets great!!!... 20 hours in... Story ends up rocking out but it takes so long to get into it... although the world itself is nifty!

I just finished "The Saboteur"

Twas' much fun. It's like Grand Theft Auto, only with Nazis and stealth elements. Plus, who doesn't want to play as an Irishman?

Just watch out if you have an ATI card - It has some issues with terrain and texture generation taking too long, resulting in some short lag/loading spikes from time to time, though it only really happens if you're tearing through Paris in a racecar.

Oh - it also has many, many boobies. And no, I'm not kidding.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

Plus, The Saboteur has an achievement for climbing to the top of the Eiffel Tower, and then another one for surviving a fall from the stop of the Eiffel Tower.

And you can find random tanks sitting in the countryside!

And you can blow stuff up!

And the stealth portion is fun!

And you can dress up as a Nazi and kill Nazi generals!

And the ending of the last mission is amazingly dark!

Nothing like watching Nazi's crying and being all suicidal like.

I also forgot about Sins of a Solar Empire. If you want a space war simulator, you can't beat it.

I was just having a conversation with someone regarding Final Fantasy games. By chance have you ever played FFVI all the way through? FFXIII just isn't what it could have been.

I did pick it up a few weeks ago for $15.00. The price drop really does speak about its quality. I am going to play it and pretend it isn't a FF game. Maybe that will help me accept it for what it is.

I liked Vanquish but I think I screwed up big time during the first boss fight. I tried to destroy it one leg at a time, then I realized they couldn't be completely destroyed. However I spent too much ammo doing this and I was unable to beat him. He couldn't kill me unless I let him and I had already spent an hour trying to kill it. It ruined the game for me.

The character depth in FFVI will never be matched unfortunately... Even Ultros was awesome ( And seriously the Opera Scene is still my fave scene in rpg history! Oh Maria... good times! Setzer did throw off the creep vibe though and Gogo woried me at times...)

I personally like jet grind radio for the Dreamcast (Sega never stood a chance but they had some good concepts for games.)
Seaman was another good one for dreamcast.
Smugglers run (ps2) was a good driving game.
blood omen for the ps1 had a great story line.
just like Soul Reaver (ps1)
Finally Fantasy VII was one of the best ones from my childhood I'd say.

The Godfather is another good one.

Right. Reach.

I've had a lot of strong recommendations for Saboteur and it's been echoed on here. Time to take the plunge.

My country arrests people for standing in queues and charges them with loitering. Good old Krasnotav...

I honestly love how your country's main page is full of tongue-in-cheek humour, and then you can hop on the forums and take a more serious tone if you wish.

For fans of turn-based strategy (which should, naturally, be all of us)...

Front Mission (SNES): Giant customisable robots for you anime geeks (Tau players), great RPG elements, and just ridiculously fun. Emulate it with English translations, as I don't think it was released outside of Japan.

Vandal Hearts (PS1): Swords and magic style, this time. RPG that isn't too heavy on the transitions, and lots of cool (and overly bloody) battles. Also has a beautiful end-game song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8FVfsuj0lQ

Fantasy Wars (PC): Not as good as the above two, and lacking a good story. However, the battles are pretty fun, you can play as different factions, and it should hold some appeal to the Warhammer Fantasy players.

Epic old stuff, you want? Fine, look for "Baldur's Gate" and "Fallout" series. Good times... although I probably should not post the two here, after all, almost everyone knows about those. For an underrated gem, I used to love "Jagged Alliance" and its sequel, and I still woe the day Sir-Tech went under.
