Hmm, I'd have to say the Librarian for his utility is my favorite.

I dig the special grenades of the Grand Master, but I hate the fact that he can be singled out. With S+1 T+1 W+1 A+1, eternal warrior, sanctified flame, and making paladins troops, Draigo is totally worth every penny. With FNP and yet another attack from the paladins, he's an absolute monster.

I was actually pretty hot for Mordrak for a while (flawless teleport and a GM that can't be singled out? sold! I even dug out my old 2nd edition GK for the occasion) until I noticed he can only start with 5 ghost knights. :(

Corteaz is awesome too, though.

Draigo is the lead still! But only by 1 vote.. Coteaz has overtaken the Librarian, and some fella with a strange view on tactics actually voted for the Brother-Captain .

Its followed closely by Coteaz and the Brother Captain

Brother Captain?

If you like Grand Master.. why not try out the Supreme Grand Master?

Because the Supreme Grand Master doesn't get Rad or Psychotroke grenades. He really only shows his worth in Paladin armies.

And the Brother Captain is absolutely horrible. If you don't plan on making much use of the Grand Strategy, then take a Librarian instead. If you want to save on points, take a Brotherhood Captain. If you really need Psychic Communion, a Grand Master is only 25 points more and offers so much more for that.

Yeah, the GKGM makes the Brotherhood Captain redundant. Also, you have to value Draigo for his insane combat ability. There's not a lot that would stand up to him one on one I'd imagine, except the likes of The Sanguinor, Mephiston, Abaddon and the C'tan.

You know it is cool to say, until I think of Draigo
I don't even have that much of a problem with him anymore which is the weird thing

Yeah, it's like you read the fluff and you're like "what in the name of the Emperor is this heresy!?" (to be fair, it'd be more like "what the f*ck?") - then you reach his rules.. "HELL YES!"

The fact that you can assemble him with a helmet on makes his model viable.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, in an army of beatsticks, he's just another beatstick. He's certainly not bad, even in an army that doesn't use Paladins to full effect, but there are other units that can do largely the same job as far as combat capacity is concerned.

Draigo was built to work with Paladins. He not only makes them troops, but his inclusion can help to mitigate one of the unit's greatest weaknesses. He takes one of the beatiest sticks in the game, and makes them last much longer to get more beating in. And that's just awesome.

Oh, and Draigo's fluff is absolutely horrendus, but I plan on converting my own Grand Master with the proper equipment. Feels less dirty that way. Could probably end up making a cooler model that way too (the sculpt of Draigo's model itself is fine, but the pose is so... bad...).

Edit: I just realised what's happened here. I wrote BC, meaning Brotherhood Captain, and Walrus thought I was talking about the Brotherhood Champion . Epic :faceplam: moment for us all, methinks .

Indeed. To be fair though, if someone writes "Brotherhood Captain", I'm gonna assume that it's the "Brotherhood Champion", who actually does something almost worthwhile, not the "Brother-Captain", who's eclipsed in every way by Grand Masters as has been mentioned.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

I still don't get how Draigo can be a Supreme Grand Master when he has no contact with the chapter whatsoever, except the occasional brief reunion mid-battle, which may happen once every few centuries if that.

he became Supreme Grand Master before disappearing and the Chapter knows he is still alive.

No reason for him to be replaced.

shhhhhhh,

don't tell anyone, but the GK codex has a 1+ Ward save.

the balance is in the fact Ward shall soon work his magic accross the entire codex range. and we can expect 4 new marine codexs in addition to the existing ones.

Really? Not being able to direct or contact his chapter in any way, shape or form is no reason to replace a leader?

And it's super convenient for any daemons that may want to screw with the GK... just show up out of a warp rift looking like one, and they embrace you as brother and Supreme Grand Master.

Speaking of Inquisitors, I much rather take them as a low cost HQ. Give them exactly and only what they need to get a certain job done, probably cheaper than the brother champion, AND you get some slotless undercost henchmen.
