I think Ali-Shan makes a valid point and there are other threads around that are about the same subject.

Not everyone plays in comps. Some want to play friendly competitive and others just friendly.

I am more of a comp player these days however I wouldn't know the strengths and weaknesses of my units without loads of experience with them.

This has led me to discount some of the units I have bought and painted for the comp scene but I'm still glad I bought and painted them and I will still use them from time to time. I have also learned more about the game through using them.

There is no right and wrong only using the right tools to get the job done in the right situation.

SonsofVulkan wrote:Fire dragons are the best elite unit in the eldar codex and yes they are usually suicide units but a 5 men squad worth 80 pts taking out a 200+ pt Landraider or a MC is definetly a good tradeoff.

The wave serpent is one of the best dedicated transport in the game(between BA razorbacks). Force shield, fast skimmer, and can be outfitted with weaponrys to look more like a tank.

QFT. In any way you look at it, a unit is really just trying to earn its points back. For some its by blowing up a 250 points actually, land raider, others its sitting on an objective, I'm thinking guardians.

Personally, my dragons hit whatever armour is in front of them, unless its not worth their points and they're bound to die afterwards. What I mean is that if I have a rhino in front of me full of Khorne bezerkers, I may use my fire dragons to low it up, so my banshees can kill the Khorne zerkers.

This is what I believe. Believe me or not, but I onced used hawks to great effect against IG. It was a friendly game, but my hawks still managed to take down 20 guardsmen, a command squad and that flying transport (a valkyrie is it?).

LoneLictor on thread about an ork choking the Emperor:

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.
