Actually the Iron Warriors do make use of Possessed, however theirs are unique in that they use the Daemonic entities to fuel bionic weaponry...
This was in one of the older codexes and Index Astartes Volume I. How you go about modeling it, well that's another story.

I have a squad of possessed. Wish i knew then what i know now.

Get the Possessed sprue and then cut up some small gus/pipes/servo arms etc and make them look more like mini-obliterators or something.

possessed are essentially CC based, so you coudl justify it as the Warsmith attempting to create his own version of Berzerkers by using archeo-tech instead of worship to Khorne.

Thanks for all the responses guys, I may use Oblits, or convert my own, however, I'd really like to stick with some vindicators, I'll probably drop on vindicator in favor for some obliterators.

The possessed models look amazing, I love them. However, I would rather have my Warsmith escorted by a group of bezerker equivalents to compliment his melee power. Although that does sound like an interesting idea you have for converting them praxiss.

Lastly, I'm not sure if I want to stick with a Lord, or switch to a DP or Sorcerer, which will both be converted to a more Iron Warriors feel. Something like the Pyramid Head from Silent Hill with some barbed wire wrapped around it and other "Iron" or mechanical things.

For those of you who don't know what the pyramid head is:

I went with a DP with some forgeworld bits on, there's pics in my Gallery if you're curious (links in sig below).

Well, it was an idea not sure I like how goofy it looks, I'd probably try it regardless.

I like your Daemon Prince Praziss, where did you get that helmet?

I could see IW using raptors, think about it. A unit of "specially trained" iron warriors with melta flying into a bastion and blowing it up? Or taking out a vital link on a S&D mission.

They could use Plauge Marines, just instead of sickness they use heavy bionics.

Noise Marines, yes. They turned sound into a gun, heck, they have a blastmaster which is a stripped down battle cannon or a pimped out HB.

Rubric Marines... I guess you could say a sorecer "blessed" some IW and they have some arcane technology.

Oh and while they dont use cult troops, they do use slave labor and army.

If you want to run dreads then (to keep in fluff) make them close combat-y and charge them forward. Happens in Storm of Iron, but apparently they had hundreds, would have loved to see that actually happen on table top, mass berserker rage

This is my Leman Russ. There are many out there like it, but this one is mine. Without it, I am useless. Without me, it is useless.

Obliterators: They've got a gun for that.

I believe someone did that once. It was epic.

..but just imagine what would happen if they all rolled a 6 for their sanity check on turn one . Mass Dreadnought fist fight!

For berzerkers you could allways use lobotomiszed iron warriors, you could use somthing like the metal skull on the gazghul model to show that they have been lobotomized. What about predators and land raiders ?

Predators would be nice, but they dont exactly fit the siege style and on tabletop there are much better choices.

Iron Warriors alreday use Berserkers, its the same with the black legion. They (fluff) probley traded for a cadre of them or one of the guys who does the surgery

We're discussing what units they wouldn't use, so of course we're not going to mention Havocs!

Thanks again guys, I'm using Vindicators over Havocs just because when I think of siege, I think of huge S10 battle cannons.

The raptors idea is cool, but from what I have heard they die quite fast? I would be dropping a Melta or Plasma squad for them. If I did drop a squad for them however, I could fit a DP with Wings and Warptime, not extremely fluffy, and would rather have a lord for that reason, but its more competitive. The only cult troops I'm using is a squad of zerkers for my lord to ride with, I'm not using the actual models because they almost seem boring to me, so I am converting them as Iron Warriors with Red eyes, CCW, and "Aspiring Champion" Skull shoulderpads.

What do you think would be a good mark for my Lord? I have Khorne for the sheer number of attacks, but Undivided is nice for the +1S, almost making it perfect for a servo harness that the Warsmith will have.

Lastly, on hazard stripes on Vindicators Dozer Blades. Are they all Diagonal one way or 3 One way and three the other? (Ex: / / / / or / / /\ \ \ )

I'll get a WIP up as soon as I get all the bitz/paints I need. I'm planning on doing that Zenithal Airbrushing on them, so their feet will be darker...etc... Heres a link to the article:

But why, man, don't you want havocs?

They have the biggest guns - they're the coolest of all your guys.

They seem quite over priced, and don't fit the style I am using, as everything will be slowly (Or fastly if its a Rhino) advancing while my Vindicators drop Blasts on the enemy. I like them and all but I don't think their guns are quite as big as a vindicator

As far as the black and yellow "hazard stripes" are concerned, I have seen it both ways.

I think that on a flat blade like the Vindicator has, it looks better with the stripes all in the same direction.-/////

If it was an angled blade then it tends to look best with the stripes meeting in the middle-\\\/// or moving apart-///\\\ instead of all one way.

Good point, I have to agree with you on that one. Thanks.

Cheers. The helmet is the horned mask off a Defiler with the horns clipped off. I had to file most of the DPs face off to make it fit.

Just thought I'd say that I don't think you can really trust Graham McNeill when it comes to Iron Warriors... he seemed to cast aside the whole concept of the IW not really doing "that whole chaos thing". But perhaps 'tis I who have misinterpreted the IW's philosophy.

As far as i understand it. The IW do worship choas, they are not overly devout and do not commit themselves (in general) to any one God.

I woudl say that they acknowledeg the existence of Chaos, and even believe that it is the strogner option. They fight in the name of Chaos, more to gain its strength in their thrist for vengeance than anything else.

I kind of get the impression that the IW joined the heresy more out of vengeance, and the whole chaos thing being something that with the package.

"You can have your vengeance, but you have to follow chaos to do it"

Good point on them not really being devout Chaos Worshipers, thats one of the things I like about them, is that they did not join to only worship chaos, but to get vengeance, like you said.

Instead of a deamon prince you could easily convert a dreadnight to have an iron warior pilot and add some chaos stuff to it.

Not a big fan of the Dreadknight, or anything that involves Grey Knights for that matter, can't stand them.

However, it is a cool idea being a big mech.

Hmmmm, how about a deamon prince with his legs replaced with the ones from the soul grinder ?

It's a bit crappy but here is a quick concept :

That is an awesome idea, I really like that. Do you think I would have problems with the base size?

It will be a bit wide but you could always trim the chassis down to have the model on 4 legs, thus reducing the length of the model a bit. As the new DP body is plastic I dont think the altered weight of center of gravity would make a difference.

Points wise, give it Wings to allow for it being abel to run faster on mechanical legs, MoN for increased Toughness due to being half machine.

I woudl be happy to play against it. Plus for apoc you coudl make up some rules for for a Defiler/DP hybrid (DP with an armour value? sweet!!)
