I see what you mean by the drop infantry but the vets and any thing else you buy act as a screen for drop infantry.

the reason why i took punnishers and vanquishers is to get rid of the Gaurds scater weapons which can make it hard to target specific units that would cause you a problem, eg a ravager, SM devistators and so on.

the punnishers are really there to put a large volume of fire down they are also str 5 so its wounding most stuff on a 2 or a 3

The main tactic involed is the armour line where you can only see the front armour

dude, only 1/3 of all games are annhilation.

the rest are objective based.

Blast weapons are actually the best thing for low BS models. 1/3 chance of direct hit and about another 1/3 chance of minimal scatter. having direct fire weapons exposes the biggest weakness of your BS3.

and as we said earlier, Punishers don't have the BS for those 20 shots to count. you get 10 hits, 7 wounds if you roll average. then 2 casualities on a marine unit. a Battlecannon has about a 2/3 chance of getting most of a unit and wounds on 2s with no armor save. it can also hurt vehicles.

I'm guessing the title is meant as a joke or a troll?

Because Russ-spam is probably the weakest build in the whole book. Your theory amplifies their weakness and cancels out their strength. Point for point, Russes suffer compared to artillery for firepower. While a squadron can put out a lot of hurt, that's a lot of points focusing on a single target, so you are actually diluting your overall firepower potential.

Their main advantage of survivability is hampered by the squadron rules, particularly if you're fielding three of them. If your opponent can get some chosen or vets or henchmen or whatever to unload their meltaguns on one tank, the whole squadron will be hurting.

As fun as it is to place a wall of russes down, its sorely ineffective in nearly every way, shape, and form. Alas, it is purely a fun list as an excuse to field your entire armoured company...or for apoc games.

Now 3 russes with mechvets and other toys is a solid build for those who dislike artillery.

or, if you use the FW Armored Company rules. then it becomes decent, but it still has the same weaknesses.

Well, fielding 9 models costing more than 1500 points that each can be killed by a single shot is kinda meh.

Scary at first though

Good God, my Chaos Marines would LOVE for you to take this list. In fact, one of my friends already took this list. He went down faster than a drunk girl on prom night. Good luck with this list: in the current melta-meta game it's terrible because of the prevalence of reserves-based melta. Against a decent list this will lose just about every time. I can eat it with just about any of my tournament builds.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I actually am not a fan of Russes if I'm fielding a lot of chimeras. If I'm going to saturate AV12, I'm going to saturate AV12 and stick with manticores, hydras or even the occasional basilisk battery. I do love using three Russes when I'm playing mostly on foot. The current meta is actually moving towards more missile/auto/assault/psybolt spam that are an effective way to deal with transports at range. These weapons bounce off of Russ armor, while the things that can threaten them (meltas and melee) are kept at bay by power blobs. It's a slightly different way of playing IG than the current meme, but it can be great fun and surprisingly effective.
