It is like carpal tunnel syndrome I get it when I'm pregnant! You guys have far less to worry about! I usually only get a couple hours at most to paint in evenings. Sometimes I can sneak in a 20 or 30 mins durning the day when tv is being watched.

Usually about an hour and a half before boredom stats forcing me to rush. Longest I've ever done is 2 and a half hours.

I could probably go longer if I had a better painting place. But I have to paint in the dining room, where I cant listen to music or watch TV while I paint.

6 hours has been my longest.

But that was before I had a period of Depression. Now I am lucky if I can get 2 hours, mostly about 60 to 90 mins.

Depends on how long concentration will last really.

For me it depends more on my chair.. if I'm in a cheapy folding chair or stool, about 15 minutes and I'm done for the night. Nice padding high back office chair, an hour or 2. Big poofy recliner, all night long

It depends on many things. Usually if I'm batch painting then I'll do it until I've done the basics of a unit. If I'm doing a character I can spend a potential 6-8+ hours on it in a single sitting.

I feel small breaks every hour or so really help, just getting up, stretching, changing water, making some tea or getting your favourite beverage helps break up the tedium - this & a spray gun

At the moment it's no more than half an hour - if that, then its an hour's break - back pain with a vengeance!

I can paint for as long as possible before the wife's nagging becomes too much! (not that long usually!)

If I feel like I'm in 'the zone' I can happily paint for 5-6 hours before getting a bit bored.

She takes the kids to her mum's one weekend each month and then I can really get my teeth into some painting. I could then paint all day (with breaks for food, smokes and coffee). It can become tedious but it's well worth it when you get a good chunk of stuff done.

I rarely paint for more than an hour, maybe two, due to my schedule. That's the time I can squeak out after dinner during the week.

however, when I had more time I still rarely painted more than that as my eyes start to get strained from looking at minis. Still, sometimes I had good evenings where I'd alternate painting and watching TV and go for a few hours.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

If I am really motivated I can paint all day long, as long as I have the house to myself to limit the distractions.

Most of the time though I do anywhere between 1-3 hours before I lose interest and have to do something else.

Some rainy saturdays in the winter and late fall, I'll paint for the length of 2 football games, so 6 hours.

I'll take breaks in there. I'm also doing laundry or something, so I'm getting up every 45 mintues or so to get the next load going.

Pretty much this. I paint a lot when there are sporting events on, because I don't need to watch them.

Otherwise, I just set up a music playlist and paint for that long, usually 2-3 hours. Depending on how close I am to done, I might start another playlist to get stuff complete. Or callthem at a good stage until the next time I paint.

I do that with the playlists... except that, when one ends, I just start up another one.

I find it odd that people complain about wrist cramps and such...how hard are you painting?!? It is a very low impact activity.

That said, I usually paint 30m to 3 hours. Since I am batch painting troops at the moment, i can break off anywhere and pick up where I left off. Paint stuff is right here on my computer table. So i hit icefilms and stream the latest Game of Thrones or Justified and work with that on. I can look up and break whenever.

Typically, unless I have a deadline or something to do, I don't rush through it or do massive sessions. Slow and steady and careful is how I go about it.

From England. Living in Shanghai

Usually a couple of hours a night twice a week. However I have recently been pushing myself and getting the paintbrush out as soon as I get home from work everyday for the last 4 days...call it 4 hours a night.

Something I only recently realized was how much fun it can be to batch paint a bunch in the first few stages, but then when you get to the final steps working on each model individually really helps you feel like you have accomplished something. I guess it helps that they are GK's so they look more striking on an individual level rather than depressingly similar like the 72 gaunts I have.

If I'm really digging on what I am doing, especially when i have multiple projects going (Plague Zombies here, Objective Markers there, Sludge Pond terrain on the table, 30 Traitor Guard in assembly line fashion, recovering an eBay Rhino disaster) then I can go countess hours. I've started modeling after work on a Friday and didn't stop until Saturday afternoon when I had to take a nap because the paint was drying on my brush as I nodded off. Sometimes I just really, really get into it. Depending on my mood I'll crank the stereo w/ old Death Metal like Bolt Thrower, Entombed, Malevolent Creation, etc. Or sometimes I'll turn on the Trance Ambient channel and zone into my work. There are times when I know I could very easily spend every waking moment of my day doing this if I were financially independent and did not have to answer to the responsibilities of adult life.

The flip side of that is when I get so sick of all of this that I hate every aspect of the hobby, throw everything in a box, and stop posting on Dakka for 2 months. That part isn't so awesome.

Depends on the project. If I am really into it I can go for 4 - 6 hours. Usually though, 2 hours before I have to take a break. Building scenery or working on a large scale conversion I can go for quite a while. But of course there are the constant interruptions, toilet, phone, etc.

Either half an Hour or six hours straight. Half an hour if i force myslf to paint, (up to) six if i get in the groove during that half hour. Its why i barely get any done and what is done is done in bursts....

I could sit for hours painting, but most of that would be looking for inspiration or wishing the paint pots would open themselves and mix the right shade for me I've not painted for a while but i'm soon to receive a wake up call as stuff needs doing :(
Being ex GW i used to sit and paint for a good portion of the working day.
