Sorry, forgot to mention - looks like they're considering a second hull option for the Droid.

Complete email below...

Padre^.

Hi ***,

Thanks for the mail. The droid is currently on preorders for members of our partner forums www.secondsphere.org by dropping "Thantos" a Personal Message, at £45 (you just need a base or something like a CD to mount him on) and should be in the webstore in a week or two, once i make some instructions on how to put all the bits together! 50 parts if you use all the rubber tubes!

Postage to Australia would be £5.50 first class airmail. (i can give the option of tracked and signed for airmail for added security for +£4.50 if you like)

Thanks and glad you like him. Im eager to get a second hull option done for him which incorporates a clear resin forcefield around the sensors. Should be interchangeable with the current hull.

All the best and happy hobbies,
Eddie

Probably only one of the droid pre-order slots left guys. I bought 3.

I'll let you know how they turn out. Should be here in a week or 2.

Love all of this stuff. The droid, or whatever you're calling it, is so much better than GW's kit that there is no comparison. All it needs is some detailing for those big open panels and it'll be perfect.

Yup, that's the name - the M2 "Lobster" Assault Droid.

Since the inception of the website Slashdot.org its been the bane of many a website, most websites linked from that site are overloaded by the amount of hits per second that the visitor webbrowsers produce. this is called "slashdotting"

Now when i went to visit the site in the quoted email above " www.secondsphere.org" it was very broken.

so i was inferring an analogoue of slashdot onto dakka.

Been following the progress Of Zealot for a while as they show great potential, I love the female head’s would like to see a few more facial expressions though. The M2 "Lobster" Assault Droid I’m not too sure on, the lower limbs look too fragile compared to the rest of the model.
It also seems like it has simply been modelled and not had any sort of detailed digital sculpting applied to the mesh. It looks more like a WIP rapid prototype rather than something that should have been sent to cast.
If it was a little cheaper some bits would be nice for conversion parts but as something to put on the table whole I think I’ll give it a miss.

Has any one seen any of their casts up close? The image of the Lobster shows a grain from the printing material & I am wondering if this was smoothed pre casting? Although it would not take much to sand down it’s just a pain some times. This may not have been possible because of the material it was printed in though – on that note anyone know what printer they have used for the Lobster?

To finish on a positive though it is still early stages for Zealot & as said earlier they show some great potential. Keep up the good work guys!

Ok. I just got mine yesterday. The casting is smooth with virtually no flash or mold lines. I haven't gotten around to putting it together yet, but it looks very convertible. When I get it together (hopefully tonight), I'll write up a review.

Really? The sentinel model is awesome, cheaper than this by a huge margin, and the appropriate size.

The deff dread is also awesome, cheaper than this by almost half, and again, the appropriate scale.

I don't see why you would ever want to use this model for those purposes.

actually it's better called "farking" because slashdot is just bad.

$80 for a walker, and then they sell a base for it for a mere $5 more? How big of them. Speaking of the walker, the legs are terrific, the rest is pretty good, and the little T-rex arms made me die a little inside.
