Humnanity is fully capable of creating the weapons they need in 40K. If anything, the rigid rituals on mars are what's holding them back from inventing better technology.

When the Emperor imprisoned the dragon, he did so in a time when science was paramount and religon was damned. The picture has shifted and thus it would be about high time the human race gets rid of the worshippers of a sleeping dragon.

If the humans were allowed to invent technology on their own free accord, you would most likely see most of the problems rampant in the IoM go away.

Basically, Mars is a crutch. Apart from its industrial capabilities it is worthless.

"AM are bunch of half human-half robot monkeys who keep tech working by punching it with a wrench And their tech is so sophisticated that you could never get it wrapped it out" thing a LITTLE to seriously. It also goes "Tau tech is so awesome I wish I was Tau and not some stupid Human" thing.

The problem is the rest of humanity is as backwards as the admech and they have less knowledge. While the admech is holding back technology the majority of humans have the same beliefs that they do. Hidden under all the rituals the admech do have some understanding just not much. The only humans really capable of creating new (not just recombined) are radical admech or the dark mechanicus/

If I remember Mechanicum correctly, less than a handful of adepts were confirmed to know that there was something within the Noctis Labyrinth that predated the Imperium.

The Necron codex implies that Imperial contact with the Necrons has resulted in much confusion within the Mechanicus. Though the Necrons are xenos, they are also the perfect state of being that the Mechanicum strives to achieve made real.

The Emperor never wanted the current religion to exist though. He did everything he could to make it not happen. If he ever actual woke up he would take one look, shake his said, and mumble "You got it all wrong". Then he would likely just kill the current High Lords.

Ever heard about STC? Mars have all copies of it in it's libraries. And STC present sceme for most Imperial Guard armor and Imperial Ships and tech. Mankind witout STC can't even make a Lasgun. Mars is also the largest Titan builder station, most Titan Legions came from Mars. And the Mars educates the finest Tech priest out there, not to mentione that most of Tech priest came from Mars...

And you are right about the religion, but this is already another topic to be discussed...

The Emperor doesn't have a GKs unshakable faith in the Emperor which is....basically himself?

The Imperium doesn't have any legitimacy to do it: Mars has always, technically, been an independent body only *allied* with the Imperium.

So why does the Imperium let them decide so much about how things are run with tech that doesn't belong to the ad mech? I side with beefcake in his opinion that their rituals and worship of technology hold the Imperium back.

ill bet if private businesses were allowed to create new tech the Imperium would have a lot more worlds than it does now. Not to mention a better win/loss ratio.

You're kind of forgetting that everyone has grown up with horrific stories about the Dark Age of Technology and the Iron Men. Add to the fact that the AdMech monopolises all technological education and, well, you kind of grow up believing that Mankind's future lies in reclaiming that from the past (which isn't a bad approach, as the humanity of antiquity was much more advanced than the IoM).
