will you then add sponsons?

ammo boxes, equipment packs (rucksacks), tool kits, chains (towing), fuel containers, weapons/armour for the crew.... Some of this can be on the outside, but usually you'd find it inside.

With the tanks as a count - you might want to 'futurise' it?

You could do this by adding imperial symbology, maybe getting ride of the antennae and putting a sat dish or a radar dome?

You could take the turret of completely and have it open topped with a massive cannon sticking out?

I don't think I'll add any sponsons. Usually I run my russes without any sponsons either, and since I'm more a sort of a collector/modeler/converter, then a gamer it doesn't have an impact on the game anyway.

So, finally an update!

In the past few days I have finished the interior and basecoated it, I've also finished the upper hull, the turret and even a driver figure, so now I only need to add a few small details and paint the interior and then I can put the separate parts together. After which, painting can begin.

Today my first order of figures came in from artizan designs, though I have to wait till Wednesday next week till I can paint because they are for my birthday..
But I saw them laying on the cupboard, and I just couldn't resist to snatch one of them.., so I did, and I made a comparison pic with a guard figure.

I say they're about the same height though the artizan designs figures are just a little less bulky than guard figures.

Thanks for the kind words lads..,

I will start on the infantry soon. I also got a cool idea for a count-as Basilisk since I saw these nice 1:48 Italeri kits
my idea was to mount this:

on the back of this:

Off course I will add some sort of earth spades for the recoil of the gun and maybe some armor on the cab

I really love that model, but I think it's just a bit too big since it's 1:35.. it measures 18 cm in lenght, while the 1:48 opel blitz is just 12 cm long which makes it just a few mm longer than a standard chimera hull. And it has the german feel I want for my army

I finished the first squad today, well not completely because I still need to paint the goggles on most. But can't decide what color, maybe you can help me out.
The pointing guy has yellow/orange goggles and I painted the machine gun team with blue goggles. I painted these figures in a variety of Waffen-SS camo patterns.
please tell me your thoughts.

well i am in an imp arse situation here up my neck...your scheme looks really well done... all fighters look very crisp...and for my own decision i would let the uniform mix just stay that way... mixed all the way through like in the late days of WWII where everybody fought how they could a loosing battle in germany...but to tell you the truth... i choose to build a britsih victorian oriented army mainly because tho cool looking german late war soldiers may look (and even SS officers look mighty sharp in their uniforms!) i strongly destest a SS oriented army...but thats just family historiy related and doens´t keep me from admiring a well done job...i hope your fancy doesn´t go too deep into the schemes of the used paintjob and beyond...
other than above i might add that if you want to make your fellas a bit more aggressive looking and darker then i would go for all red goggles... by this you could tie in all models despite their different uniforms...

cool mins mate!

Thank you for your words of compliment, and for the criticism on a SS based army, my point is not too hurt or violate people, and my interest in the SS are only modelling wise, so I won't paint swastika's all over my army or something.

Any ideas what color I should paint the goggles though, blue or yellow/orange??

I also came across this nice set of multi-pose German soldiers, http://store.warlordgames.co.uk/german-infantry-plastic-boxed-set-4368-p.asp

these will be added to my army soon as well..

and I will use these for my basilisk crew. http://www.renegademiniatures.com/ww1lwger.htm
