Also, how does one apply to be a member of the Ultramodrines? Are harsh trials involved, ones that would test my faith as a wargamer and resolve as a geek?

I'd agree with you to a point. I paint my boyz as i get them but i know alot of people just want the flavor of the week, buy the model play them till a new shiny marines codex is out then either claim thier unpainted marines are the nex codex or just buy more of the correct models. but at the same time i will say it annoys my that the money i spend on wahammer won't go as far next month i usually spend about 30 a month which can be a few units on ebay or a box at my local shop. all the price increase means is i will have to build my waaaagh more slowly and my black templars will go from snail pace growth to glacial pace

Now all we need to do is get people in this thread calling each other stupid liberals and maybe a religion or abortion argument, something about Matt Ward, and Nvidia vs ATI, and this thread will become a pinprick black hole to the warp, where reason and sense, like light, are sucked in, never to escape again.

macs suck.

40k rules.

republicans and democrats are two heads on the same monster just spouting different crap but at least democrats seem to have good intentions i'm a libertarian and have been since i was old enough to vote (2002).

religion is terrible in all accounts if it helps you be a better person that is great but people take it too far and always turn it into trying to press it on others which annoys me.

matt ward isn't that bad but i do feel he's making the meta game even mroe unbalanced toward space marines.

Nvidia beat ati , ati is more efficient gnerally if you liek power consumption but I'll manage to spend the extra dollar a month on electricty to better performance (and probably another 5-10 on the cooling cost... love my gtx 460's in sli to death but they do put out some heat)

Eilif wrote:This is very true. If a person can be disciplined to slowly build one army and game with it exclusively, even putting together GW army is feasible over time, and as you mention, upkeep and playing are not expensive sides of the hobby.

Assuming that you build one army a year your monthly spend could be as low as £25 / $40 per month (my last 2K army was approx £250).

I'm curious to know what hobby the people who are noisily quitting are planning to switch to because all of my other hobbies cost a lot more than that!

You're confusing 'Games Workshop' for 'hobby'.

Games Workshop is NOT the only company out their that makes a quality game with quality miniatures. And these other companies don't treat their consumers like dirt.

No, I'm not. There are minis that are cheaper and there are minis that are much more expensive.

Regardless of which games you play, miniatures war-gaming is an extremely cheap hobby.
