That's right.
A roll of 1 to hit is an automatic fail because the rule on p.17 says so. It isn't a general rule of the game.

Why, because he found something interesting in his new rulebook that he didn't quite understand? Because he plays Grey Knights? Considering how long he's been playing necrons for, I'd give him a certain amount of leway with the whole bandwagoning thing. I've said he never even tried to use it, and when did I give the impression that he was like that? Don't insult people when you don't have all the info please. From the little I've read, it was a genuine concern for when we're testing out new lists.

The only people who would believe that to be true either:
A) Have a poor grasp of English.
B) Wish to exploit an obvious rules loophole for their benefit.
Sounds like your friend is one of those guys who probably tries his best to exploit rules and is enabled to do so, by friends like yourself who defend the behavior.
Anyone with a slight bit of common sense could figure out a dreadknight does not get to ride in a Stormraven just because a teleporter makes it jump infantry.

Dreadknights can't be str14? But it doubles their str!!!!! And DKs can totally ride in SRs, they probably pilot them because they're so L337!!!

You can't join the orange money with the GK
They only can be together with a warband, but imagine power armour warrior acoylte with +1 save, they are basicly cheap termis lol.
If you join a independent character, I actully think their armour does increase by 1 but that only means AP1 can ignore the armour, AP 2 can't
It sound reasonable otherwise there will be no point for that rule. Unless someone can quote from the rulebook that you can't have 1+ armour.

There is no one=autofail rule in 40K.
Most things fail on a one because the rule specifically says so - e.g. the to-hit table has no 1+ section.
Lots of things can succeed on a one - e.g. armour pen rolls, characteristic tests, etc.
Armour cannot be improved past 2+.

See Scott a roll of one for a save is a fail. Certain things are always pass/fail regardless of modifiers. Such as  rolled when you test leadership. You pass regardless of modfiers.

Yes, but there are lots of things where that is not the case. There is no default rule of one=autofail in 40K.

Oddly enough....
I knew the book said that there was a cap on the best save you could get, if you auto pass a save unless the weapon is AP1 some armies would have allot of trouble even hurting them.

I spelled that out because there have been a bunch of threads lately where people assumed that 1= autofail (e.g. S10 hitting an AV10 vehicle fails on a one.... no.)
The BRB is belt and braces on the subject of saves. It spells out that saves can't be better than 2+ and that a roll of a 1 always fails.
