I love Sean Bean.

I really want to watch Sharpe but it's rarely on tv.

In fact the guy at a GW near me is making a Sharpe themed IG.

I own the boxset....love it.

I'm currently listening to one of Cornwell's recent books Agincourt. I highly recommend it.

I like Hornblower and Sharpe, both great period peices for that era of our history.

Sharpe wins out out of the two mind, partially as there where so many more episodes in comparrison, and what's there not to like about a group of Napoleon era snipers.

Love the books, less enthusiastic about the series. Hornblower is better of the 2 televised, however not read the books.

Bruins fan till the end.

Never assume anything, it will only make an ass of you and me.

I'm definitely a fan of Cornwell, though I've only read his Saxon books and I'm on book two of his Warlord trilogy. My mother's been reading a bunch of his stuff recently as well, and just started on the Sharpe's books. In a similar vein, I'm a huge fan of Patrick O'Brien's Aubrey/Maturin novels (Master & Commander, etc.; Napoleonic-era British Navy) and recently finished the fifteenth volume. They're pure gold, and I limit myself to a few each year to draw out the joy.

Enjoying O'Brien's stuff, Cornwell's other stuff, Sean Bean (Brave Two Zero!) an Pete Postlethwaite as much as I do, I've been thinking that I really should check out the Sharpe's TV series. After dinner at my mom's last night she and my brother and I were watching some West Wing and I actually raised the subject of checking out Sharpe's at some point. Glad to hear so many of you love them.

Mannahin, you may enjoy Simon Scarrow's books. He writes a series set in Roman Britain which is excellent, and comes highly recommended by Cornwell...

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

I adored the books. However, even with Sean Bean as Sharpe, and I don't think anyone could have done Obadiah Hakeswill better than Pete Postlewaith, but I still think the series fell short of the books.

Good series, its great when Sean Bean gets to play good guys, though it really could have done with a larger budget and better extras (the sword play was naff ^^). The films however really didn't match up. =/
