Sephyr - Tigurius is the ultra psyker in a chapter not entirely composed of psykers. Not quite a one eyed man comparitor, but close.

A basic strike squad is only cheaper once you can find a Tac squad that can take power weapons on all its A1 troops (which is why your "15 points" is incorrect; 10 points at most for 1PW attack). Yes, per model it is cheaper than a tac squad thqat could somehow take all PW, HOWEVER you are *forced* to pay for them, even when theyre not wanted!

Which is the trade: you have to pay for goodies you may not even want.

You're also forgetting RoW, which has the entire board to block powers (turning that "very reliable" Vehicle psyker into "ouch I glanced myself again") and the sheer speed advantage DE have over GK

GK's tend to have the same inherent problems that other MEQ lists have.

The main problems that I have with the list are Purifiers and easy access to relatively cheap halberds. In most other MEQ armies you typically have to build units with specific functions in mind: shoot or assault. You don't have to do that with GK's...simply build your army to shoot, and arm every model possible with halberds, and you get the best of both worlds: a good level of mid to high strength shooting, coupled with high initiative close combat capabilities due to high strength power weapons.

The worst unit in the army is the basic Grey Knight strike squad (without considering some of the strange unit options available to Inquisitor retinues). Stay away from them and you can build a very strong list.

GKs: overall W/L/D 16-5-4; tournaments 14-3-2

I think that the main thing to keep in mind here is this:

MOST PEOPLE, take one of the following mentalities towards their codex:

1) My codex is really strong and it can beat anything

2) My codex got gyped and it isn't as good as your codex, so this is unfair.

Some one saying their codex is a strong codex with a few major weaknesses, is really really rare - or at least saying that after a game in which they win or loose.

To tell the truth, playing vanilla marines, I tend to take the second mentality, even though that's not completely true. One of my frineds plays SW, and I tried to tell him his wolfstar might have some trouble against DE. Apprently SWs are invincible.

What I am saying is this, everyone has their biases and assumptions, and for some reason, a lot of people feel the need to take and extreme, while normally, the truth is somewhere in the middle. However, trying to tell people that normally makes people angry.

I'm in the middle: its a strong codex - not uber, not under, just strong - which, importantly for me (coming from the chaos codex as my last army, and first love) has LOTS of different options, and some real *interest* when it comes to play.

Want tactical flexibility and a great multiplier? GKGM
Want insane, flexible psykers, but with no "JotWW" god powers to annoy people? Libby
Want both? Have them! But miss out on Inq for cheap support and pay lots of points for 2 models.

And thats just the start. Such an exciting codex in terms of options.

AS for Mustela - seriously, until SW your codex was SUCH a powerhouse. I'd love some 40pt th/ss GK termies, even 60 points same as SW pay....!
