As a Tyranid player, I don't agree with the Tervigon. Sure it's one of the better units we have, but the chance of rolling double is REALLY high. I average spawning about 15 Termagants a game, thats 75 points of gaunts. So he's still costing 100 points. Sure he's strong, but he only has 3 attacks at I1, and crushing claws are expensive.

And he still has to lumber across the board to get anywhere. As with all our big creatures, they still die pretty quickly to focused fire. A MC can still be wounded by small arms (although you need to roll really well) whereas everyone else who has tanks and walkers, is immune to all small arms fire.

They can still be made scoring, give over units Feel No Pain (HUGE), and tarpit most units until the end of time. One of the few truly crazy effective units in the Tyranid book.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

I do agree with your point that the usefulness of the free spawns are really down to a players luck, Normally with bad luck I end up missing 20/24 bolt gun shots or blowing myself up with a plasma pistol but with the Tervigon I seem to be surprisingly lucky, in one rediculously good match I spawn 105 guants, making him the equivilent of -350 points and deffinatly worth his weight in fleshborer beetles. Along with the Onslaught rule that I had desided to try out that game not only did I flatten my opponant I also claimed all the objectives (5) and all using pretty much free models.

I do believe wiping out 1500 points of Space Marines with 175 points of Tervigon is the true defanition of cost effective. On the other hand just like you said there will be some players whose luck desides that on the first turn you will be spawning 3 gaunts and stopping there, my heart goes out to you poor people who paid to see tides of free nids swarming the board and where left with fodder for a single dreadnought shooting phase. I still believe in the majority of games a Tervigon will serve well and help turn the tables in your favour.

Angel Guard Space Marines = 7500 pts
Tyranids = 3500 pts
Exodite Eldar = 1500 pts
The Fallen (Dread marines) = 3000 pts

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.

SM Rhino-30 points to shuttle 10 Marines across the table. Mhm.
Grey Hunters-The EXACT SAME POINTS AS SPACE MARINES, but with Counter-attack, 2 special weapons per 10 models, and Night Vision. Only thing is they can't take a Sergeant for Ld9.

Kabal of the Void Dominator - now with more purple!

Well, they can, but they need to use an elites slot, with 99% of the time isn't an issue, especially given that the "sergeants" end up 30-45% cheaper than an SM Sergeant or Aspiring Champ with similar gear.

Hydra Flak tank is the winner. Hands down best vehicle in 40k. 2 Twin Linked Autocannons for 75 points. Takes away cover save of skimmers. i run 9 in my ltourney IG list with 9 Vendetts. By-bye any armor. I also have the option to take Medusas as well which work with bastion shells against enemy armor. Easily the Hydra is the winner.

Dark Angels 9500 Pts
Steel Legion IG 3500 Pts
Orks 2000 Pts
High Elves 2500 Pts
