I love the SW codex.
The one thing i despise about it is the Thunderwolves.
If they had stayed in fluff it would have been fine but they didn't.
It woud be funny to see other ones but as a serious concept it is a bad idea...

If they had stayed in fluff it would have been fine but they didn't.
Is that the same as saying they were putting on sheep's clothing?
Personally I am not keen on the concept, whether it be wolves or eagles.
Somehow the tortoise is compelling.
Why bother taming giant eagles when you have jet packs
Ditto Wolves/bikes etc.
However, thems your toys and it ain't for me or anyone else to say what should or should not reach the light of day.
Having seen some of the genius conversions that appear on Dakka it could be brilliant.
We will never know until it happens.

No it isn't...
The saying "Wolf in sheeps clothing" implies deception and/or trickery to conceal ones true intentions.
If they had just left the Thunderwolves in the fluff and not had the TWC I would have been happy...
Though a turtle does sound appealing.

IMHO, it would be ridiculous. It is not nearly grimdark enough, unfeasible in combat, and the whole idea of riding whatever your chapter has as it's mascot is silly. What about the "Black Dragons", "Celestial Lions", and "Howling Griffins"? Do they ride Dragons, Lions, and Griffins? No, no they do not.

Of course if a space marine rides a tortoise the tortoise is 9ft tall and has twin linked assault battlecannons.
Eldar should so get Exodite dragon knights.
But wait! If everyone got mascot cavalry wouldn't the Tau have to be riding fish? The kroot could ride Chickens. The Angry Marines have powerfeet.

However giant eagle wings on the backs of your marines should be alright, Sainguinus was the winged primarch, so I don't see why his marines wouldn't get the same mutation.
