Is it because in the South we'll just let you run your mouth, and the radical Muslims will saw your head off? Be honest now.
No, its' because I have to LIVE here.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

It takes money to move somewhere else. Money I don't have.

Where was the modern day South targeted? I brought up the South in historical context of Jim Crowe, but made no mention of the modern day South.

In your defense, you're right. You didn't. However I think the comment was directed at another post:
The southern states, probably.

Actually, no. LGBT are at risk even in Western countries. Abusing, bashing, even killing. It still happens.
It's not like the South of the US is the exception here, we have a similar problem in Aus. It's not nearly as bad as it was in the 80's or 90's (where the murders of homosexuals were sometimes disregarded by the police) but it's still a problem.

BTW, this UN resolution will help. Tasmania's anti-LGBT laws were overturned becuase the existing UN laws at the time where interpreted to allow gay sex between consenting adults. This new resolution will make that much more clear, so signatories can't "interpret" it to not include LGBT. I wonder if this will support Gay Marriage, it doesn't explicitly mention it as a right.

Its true, Fraz doesn't.

The resolution is non-binding, it was implemented by virtue of being passed.

The "landmark" status of this particular bit of UN legislation is made by the fact that no such similar resoltuion has been passed in that body at any point prior. Hell, if I really wanted to, I could easily argue that its important exactly for the reactionary nonsense you pretend is significant. In other words, despite the fact that the UNHRC is stacked with nations that don't favor Western conceptions of human rights, a bill based on Western conceptions of human rights managed to be passed.

Terrible argument.

You're always free to live anywhere that you like insofar as you eliminate all constraining factors.

For example, I can point a gun at person X's head, and explicitly threaten to kill him if he remains, and say that he is free to live in the region of space currently occupied by his head.

They justify action, they justified Libya, for example, and did the same for Iraq 1.

Exactly.

That's utter nonsense.

Even GWB sought UN approval for the very reason that it is relevant to US military choice. So did Clinton, and so has Obama.

Seeing as the people that actually make the decisions regarding the US military behave as though the UN is relevant, it is plain that the US is sensitive to UN resolutions. If it wasn't, then the leaders of it wouldn't behave that way.

Honestly, you need to stop imposing your ideology on what actually happens in the world.

Absolutely fething incredible. I've long accepted there's a lot of amnesia in US politics, but this just about takes the cake.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.
