I actually find that AoW figure to be a complete and total snorefest. Different strokes, and all of that.

If Mantic is smart, they'll release a human faction inspired by something other than Agincourt and the Holy Roman Empire. As much as people want to see other human nationalities tackled in Warhammer Fantasy Battles, it seems as if Mantic could make a pretty penny filling yet another niche ignored by Games Workshop. I mean, could you imagine how well Chinese/Cathayan style humans would sell?

Yes, I really would wish for eastern plastic humans

Heck even eastern europe inspired would be a breath of fresh air for me (grumbles that kislev is a dead army)

But then again, seeing mantic's track record....

Meh... The whole "topless dark elf" thing is just annoying to me. I'm no prude, but I'm not interested in nudity on miniatures, I like to be able to keep my miniatures out and not be embarrassed by my girlfriend or family seeing them.

That said, I really like this new Sorceress, I hope their other models turn out well, as I'm getting into Dark Elves and would love a choice on a lot of things... As most of GW's Dark Elves kind of suck (in my opinion).

Kingdom Death Fanatic. Dark Eldar: Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Dark Elves: Allegiance to the Black Crown. Also, Masons, Cygnar, and Legion of Everblight. All unnamed.

Holy gak that is an awesome username. Please tell me your army is called Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Morathi's Darkest Sin has some competition here for best handle, I think.

I think that Sorceress from Mantic looks awesome. I've got all the GW and AoW DE stuff as well.

Then you are indeed a prude.
Admitting that you are a nerd (collecting toy soldiers) is by far more potentially embarrassing than the fact that some minis may show naughty bits.

Probably not very well at all.

A lot of people on the internet might say "Cathay or Araby would be awesome!!!".

But when it comes down to it, not many of those people would actually go ahead and buy an army that they can't use in warhammer fantasy battle because the unit types are different to Empire.

Besides, if you do want plastic Cathay/ Araby, go buy buy LotR Easterlings. They are the same scale as mantic.

If mantic are smart, then puffy sleeves is what we will get. The current GW Empire state troops are horribly ugly models that look worse than the models they replaced, so there is a lot of money to be made by simply making an alternative version of them that looks better.

Will mantic actually do that though?

No, they probably won't. They have a terrible habit of making models in their own, completely new style and falling flat on their face.

So, odds are we won't get Empire-clones, Araby humans or Cathay humans and we will instead get some sort of weird "sort of like arthur but with a bunch of cool changes we made because we thought they would be cool" models that don't really "fit" anywhere other than in mantic's own KoW game. The sprues will lack options because they held back on paying out for expensive sprues with lots of options.

They will sell a moderate amount of them, wonder why on earth they aren't selling... then in 3 years or so, Avatars of War will release a plastic sprue that is a total clone of Empire state troops, but better sculpted with 90 parts on the sprue and sell hundreds of thousands of kits.

I thought LotR is 25mm?

I've seen 28mm historical models place side by side and the historicals are larger
