Silly question, but wouldn't any grip on a rifled weapon be a rifle grip. It's kind of the same problem I have with laser rifle, what is rifled on a laser?

A rifle is a noun. Rifled is an adjective. Just because the noun originates from the adjective doesn't mean that the noun keeps the properties of the adjective.

Also because Laser "rifle sounds better and is more familiar than Laser "carbine" or Laser "musket" to the layman (most laser rifles would carbines by the shortness of their barrels).

a type of gun with a long barrel (= part shaped like a tube), which is fired from the shoulder and is designed to be accurate at long distances-Cambridge dictionary. I guess you are right, I don't think its a particularly accurate definition, but OK. That would still not affect the type grip of the rifle though. You can shot an ak47 with a folding stock with one hand just as easily as one with the normal stock. Easily may not be the best term, as it would be pretty difficult to do with any hope of actually hitting anything.
