Is it because I dont know anything past the fact that this game takes place in outter space? Because I dont really get what the big deal is. Can someone spell it out for me? And preferably use a crayon when doing it?

Eve was traditionally an MMO where you pay a monthly subscription, then play the game to advance - skills advance based on time you're subscribed (happens in the background even logged out), collecting items and faction stuff means you do stuff to get things. Some of what they're doing looks like they're changing it, to allow you to simply pay money to get skills, which kills a lot of the veteran's advantage over newbies. They're also adding in-game items for money, which they started off saying would be microtransactions (less than $5 kind of things) but ended up being like $50 for a monocle that only you can ever even see.

Also, EVE didn't have a 'first person' part at all; you played the wired in captain of a ship and either saw a display of your ship flying and shooting, or impersonal interfaces for things like trading and modifying ships. They've now added a 'walk around in the station' mode, but it's really weak - you can basically wander around one room, camera angles and controls are weird, and you can't do anything except interface with the old functions in a more convoluted way. The fact that the first person stuff is so weak after being years in develiopment contributes to the anger too.

EDIT: Was just reading more on this, they're also allowing people who create websites and 3rd party apps (in-game and out) for EVE to charge money now, which I'm sure contributes to the fun.

You've been able to buy ISK for cash for several years in EVE, if you don't like being able to just buy a ship for cash then you really shouldn't be playing the game. Buying a game time code (for real cash) and trading it to someone in-game for ISK (IIRC it's around one billion isk for a month time card) is completely supported by the developers.
