O.o

False. Monoliths, C'Tan and Destroyers are good units, regardless of the quality of the other units in the Codex.

I have to disagree their. I've havn't played Necrons much, but from the times I have I'd say:

Destroyers-decent AT but are very overcosted for what they do, plus a few high strength, low AP (plasma & melta) will take them down pretty quickly if you're not careful. If you put them in with IG, DE or Marines they would be competing for slots with far more efficient units.

C'Tan-the Deciever could have a place in a few competitive builds, but they're still both very expensive and can be beaten by most effective CC units.

Monolith-I struggle to see how they could fit in to any other Codex. They cost over 200 points for a unit which has little damage output compared with things like LRBTs. The teleport is useful, but most armies have much cheaper transports to get around. They're mediocre at best.

My knowledge of Necrons is a little limited, but look at Tau: Crisis suits would be laughed out of most other codices. A single Krak Missile can blow them to pieces, they're BS3 and can take at best 2 Special Weapons-yet a good one costs around 60 points. And this is often considered the best unit in the Codex.

And if they were in Codex: CSM they'd be spammed to hell and back given the state of that particular FA section. There's no point in comparing them to units that are in other codexes. The fact of the matter is that they're pretty good.

The Nightbringer is impossible to kill in CC by (and with cleverness makes it impossible for your warriors to be killed by) units that aren't made up entirely of S4 models, and the Deceiver doesn't have to stay in CC with anyone that he doesn't want to be assaulted by.

Little damage output? You haven't played with/against them much, have you? The Particle Whip puts out plenty of damage, and the LRBT is susceptible to melta/lance weaponry/etc whereas the Monolith is not.

The Deceiver can be used, he is very viable. Being a good assault unit with neat abilities that also allow it to avoid any assault that could end with it dead is a good thing.

Nightbringer is less good. He can perform well as an assault unit, sure, but there are in fact assault units that can make him crai, such as Abaddon, who IIRC will statistically beat Nightbringer in combat.

Both also are kind of fodder for poisoned weapons, especially snipers.

or Fething Dark Eldar. Don't even bother placing a Ctan on the table vs Dark Eldar, as EVERYTHING is poisoned

Destroyers are ok. Not uber, but not bad. Wraiths ditto. They really should have rending to balance out the tiny unit size, and an even points value would be nice (40 is fine, 41 is annoying...)

Monoliths are pretty good, but not that awesome. They are woefully short-legged and short ranged, but pretty tough and well armed within that short range. They are a bar-stool to hide for a cover save, but can hide almost anything behind themselves

I'm sorry to say but yeah, it's an uphill battle all the way. I like the 'crons. They're just so hampered right now without a new codex.
