Subject: Space Faeries ... Kinda cool or way off base?
What no rainbows & unicorns? LOL! Sorry I had to. I think its great. In the past I've played against people that have taken this stuff way too seriously, & to me its a game I can play with models I built. Bye the way I think your freehand is much better than mine, please don't ask to see any.

Unicorns? Horses, with spears growing out of their foreheads.
Rainbows? What about Bifrost, the Bridge Odin, Thor and all their Aesir buddies use to get to Midgard. You aren't badass enough to even be an Aesir's bathmat, much less their interdimensional bridge.
Now flowers, those are pretty wimpy.

Convert your shining spears to be unicorn riders, ftw.
No way, it should be Pegasuses. Pegasuses with rainbow manes and tails.

I've got no problem with them, in fact, I think they're great.
As far as the painting goes, no problems either, but I think they'd look better with either a semi-gloss or a gloss finish. As well as a bit of edging if you feel like doing it.
I like it.
I agree with the high gloss varnish though, make those faries shine!

Actually you are forbidden from doing stuff that is outside the Grimdark aesthetic.

KK is sadly correct. One of my friends has multiple pink armies with flowers and butterflies (SM, CSM, Necrons), and has learned to his disappointment that at their GTs, when GW is taking pictures around the event, or of top players' armies, they refuse to take pictures of his stuff. :(
That said, he gets a lot of positive attention and amused comments from players.
So unless your ambition is to be featured in White Dwarf, this kind of thing is fine.

Sad to hear that I am actually breaking GW policy. Realistically speaking... I'm probably not anywhere near the quality of painting that I need to be to get featured in any magazienes though, and have two other armeis that are consistent with the grimdark fluff. Thanks for the heads up though, I'll be sure to just take this army to indy events and local tournies where I can get that attention without upsetting people.
I really like the idea of Unicorns and Rainbows. Although... I heard that unicorns and glitter go well together:
Finally, thanks for the feedback on the freehand. I agree... it looks like my daughter's school art. I'll keep working at it. To be honest, that's kind of the point to the silly theme. I know I can't do a really quality mural, so might as well paint something silly and cartoony to take some of the attention away from the actual painting. In the end, I actually like the pink/green/blue colors and I think I'm going to extend those throughout the rest of the army.

I think it's awesome. Wouldn't want to lose to that army though. My wife stops in every once in a while when I'm playing in a tournament and if she saw your army and then even got a hint I lost to it, i would never hear the end of it. Same as when I lost to her Purple and Pink Hordes Trollblood army

That just made me die laughing... The funny thing about your pics are that the models are really well painted and for a comedy paint job they are GENIUS!

Starting to get some more models finished and managed to snap some pics today. Taking pictures is helping with the painting I think, because when I think they look good in person I always notice something else that needs work once I put them on the camera and zoom in. Anyway, the army is starting to take shape. Comments and critiques are welcomed, especially if you have something to suggest in style or technique. Thanks for looking.

I find the pink stuff, the fluffy bunnies and the flowers and stuff, to be the most grimdarkest of all. I find it's embracing the atmosphere in a way that few others dare to tread. Any emo poser can paint his power armor black and listen to My Chemical Romance while crying about how much you never connected with your daddy the Emperor, but to go out and wreck gak while wearing pink armor is hardcore x2.
It screams to the grimdark universe that not a single F will be given that day, hot-pink falcons swooping down, speakers blaring Flock of Seagulls... damn, that's gangsta.
Pink Eldar are way grimdarker.

I'm worried that I might not get the mix right if I have to keep re-doing it for the whole army, but I know it needs a pink highlight. Do you know of anywhere to get a nice light pink color? GW doesn't even make tentacle pink anymore so I only have one pot for the whole army.
LMAO and not a good thing to do when your students are taking a test, let me tell you that. Great army and would love to see a battle between this an anime Tau army thats around here on Dakka.
