Hey all,

Going for a fun theme here to offset my more serious armies. Would still like to have something that is fun to play and looks nice. I picked Eldar because you can give them a striking paint scheme, but didn't like anything in the book. Then I decided to have some real fun with it. I would really appreciate it if you could give some constructive feedback. I am aware that I am not the best painter out there, and my freehand is pretty basic, but I'm trying to get better so please provides any comments, critiques, even techniques if you think they might help. Also... does this look like a fun army to play against? Would you have a good time if you showed up and the other guy busted this out?

Oh yeah... the Falcon photo is old... I already fixed the weapons and jewels that are not painted in this photo.

Honestly your painting techniques are not that bad. You need to highlight the pink with a lighter pink (a 50/50 mix of pink and white) and give the guns some depth (maybe a devlin mud wash, or if you want to go bright a purple wash) other than that I think people should paint their stuff however they see fit and makes them happy. I would gladly stomp some orcs across the field against this. Also maybe only one picture on the vehicles, that way it wont look so cluttered.

Yes! This totally fits what I have always felt about Eldar. I love it.

And an echo of what Farseer Jenkins said about highlights

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.

Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.

I think that's totally awesome! I would gladly play against that army with my Tau. People will go blind from all the color coming off the board. Great job!

I would say way off base. Its cool for like a display or whatever to make fun of the game, but I like to try and pretend that the battles I recreate on table top are actually happening in some far flung grimdark future... I dont see your pansy space elves fitting in too well :(

I think their fine except for the falcon. its nothing against the falcon, i just feel like theres too much going on with the freehand and it doesn't feel unifed enough for it to seem like one large scene. IMO just keep the flowers and the vine/ stem theme going (i say theme because its on the turret in the guardian squad) rather than the whole nature art.
I wouldn't feel inclined to ask, "what craftworld are you playing" or start a chat about 40k fluff with you, but i would play against this army without complaining.

You love it you slags!

Cool, thanks. I've already fixed the guns on the falcon... that was a WIP and haven't gotten out the camera for another go. Think I will have a try at mixing some highlight color though. I'm worried that I might not get the mix right if I have to keep re-doing it for the whole army, but I know it needs a pink highlight. Do you know of anywhere to get a nice light pink color? GW doesn't even make tentacle pink anymore so I only have one pot for the whole army.

Good point. I still have 2 "real" armies, so this would only be for occasional laughs. I hadn't thought of the grimdark fluff as a negative ... but yeah, not fitting in too well with the grimdark future concept with this paint scheme.

I quite like it. The colour scheme is pulled together really well through out all the miniatures especially your freehand vines and rain (im assuming its all freehand) our mountain looks pretty spectacular.
Pink is a colour I'd never even considered for an army, well done on showing how any theme can turn out great when executed with good technique and thought. Personally I'm a little on the fence about the flowers but they do fit the theme.

I actually think the pink and green looks pretty good.
Can't say I'm a fan of the freehand work though. The Falcon looks like an eleven year old girl's school binder.
