Seriously though, I read somewhere that the fists like to use swords rather than any other melee weaponry.
They also have a love of thunder hammers.
I love power weapons in general, but especially the Thunder Hammer, Power Swords, Lightning Claws, and Powerfists. Maybe a Techmarine or Master of the Forge if you can swing it.
If that Terminators thing is true (as in, they like to use them a lot), then I would be very happy.

This happens to work for fluff reasons as well, but Lysander is an absoulte close combat MONSTER. Stick him with 5 th/ss terminators, put them all in a landraider pattern of your choice and watch them mow through basically anything on the board.

its a shame that Lysanders special ability works on bolters and Lysander has no business being in a shooty squad.

That's almost completely based off Lysander...

They prefer swords overall.
They have a serious thing for them.

The BL novel Sons of Dorn touched on the Imperial Fists fetishization of their swords. They train extensively with their swords, and each Fist maintains his own blade and traditions, which seem to often be rooted in his pre-indoctrination history. For example, in the novel, the not-Samurai used a katana, while the not-knight used a longsword, etc.
However, codex marines generally carry a bolter/bolt-pistol by default, no CCW. Go figure.

Yeah, odd. Would it be hard to put a Sword Brethren in? And make it work?
