During my annoyingly busy weekend i've only managed to steal a couple of hours to myself to get some more layers of red on my chaos marine chap. He's one stage away from using pure Blood red on now so an end to the armour painting is in sight now. Just the smaller, fun, detail bits to do after that. Wooop woop!!

Instantly subscribed, this is some of the best work I've seen and I'm really looking forward to seeing it finished.
Do you have any other models hanging around for us to gawp at?
And how was the Finecast for you?

"How do you feel when you have killed a man?"
"Quite jolly, what about you?"

Wow thanks Lux_Lucis and Cosmic. I'll chuck up a quick gallery of a Master of recruits i just finished give me five mins.
This particular finecast wasn't too bad bubbles wise but i've heard all the horror stories believe me. Very nice model to paint though i can't deny it.

Forgot to mention that this is a very evil and brooding colour of red - the perfect choice for chaos!

Aw thanks mate. It's good to get feedback as this is the first time I've painted a chaos marine and wasn't sure if it was too dark. I'm gunna bring the highlight up a couple of shades next but the overall effect will still be this moody brown/red. I'm pretty happy with the effect so far though. Cheers for the feedback man.
On an off topic note I'm loving your blog chat with the cat. I'm assuming Mhorgoth is your cat. An old friend had a cat by the same name, or more precisely Mhorgoth Flayer of Souls.

You deserve the feedback, green. I've seen Vomit Brown mixed into Blood Red for a natural highlight tone before, but I'm not sure if this guy would need it.

About the blog Whether it's a chat with the cat or not, I'll leave that to the imagination. He mostly eats guardsmen (no need to chew through power armour and such). Mhorgoth he is not, but it sounds like a great feline name! "Mhorgoth Flayer of Souls" lol

Ah that's not a bad idea but I'm gunna try Blood Red and maybe risk a tiny drop of yellow if the highlight needs brightening a little.
Really lovin the highlights on your marines in your blog mate. Your obviously a great painter.

Think this is the final shade of red but can't decide whether to bring it up one more highlight? All feedback welcome.

Don't get me wrong, the painting is superb. The red armor is really, really good. I just don't really understand what is going on..

Thank you I explain it as the commissar exacting the Emporers Devine Justice and moving swiftly on to the next heretic. No more complicated than that. Maybe I should make a little plaque to explain it a bit eh? Cheers for your comments.

Yep definately, something a bit more epic this time I think. He's such a nice mini and deserves a proper cool scene to complement him. It's the ultramarine chaplin. His name illudes me but he's got loads of character. Painting begins tonight, a new P&M blog may be in order.

Ultramarine Chaplin Cassius primed and ready for paint and I just started glueing together a plastic command squad so I'm thinking something epic, vitriolic and battle like. So many ideas at the moment just can't quite decide on the surroundings. Whether to go for cityscape or battlefield? All suggestions welcome.

I am always a fan of a city fight! so much cinematics you can employ, bullet holes, scorch marks, ruined walls as cover being chewed by mass gunfire! grenade's being heaved over bagged walls to detonate at the feet of the enemy, blowing armor and entrails into the air to rain down like gory rain.....beautiful

Ha ha. Nerdfest you do make a very convincing argument for a cityscape diorama. Some quality ideas my friend, ones I fully intend to rob.
Just started the new blog on said diorama,(http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/385410.page) maybe a little preemptively as I've only undercoated and base coated the black bits on one figure but I can't help jumping the gun most of the time so sod it eh?
