Sorry, I didn't have time to read through the thread, so apologies if I'm repeating previous comments.
Basically I think the positives of Resin outweigh those of Metal: It's lighter (as you said); you don't have to pin them (again, you've said that); they don't get damaged as easily (in fact, most kits are actually quite hard to damage); deformities are much more uncommon, for instance I
always find that Necron Immortals (I know they're not in resin yet) would come moulded incorrectly with limbs that don't fit, whereas resin fixes that. The list goes on. And yes, there are downsides, such as flash that is everywhere and harder to spot, but hey-ho they've done it now - I'm happy with it, and eventually it will become the norm
