I liked HE for Araby. Light armor, light and heavy infantry AND cavalry, good magic, chariots, access to monsters, bowmen... over all a good mix.

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

My brain goes straight to Empire.

You've got light cav, heavy cav, and decent weak units. AND - you have the added flavor of Flagellant units throwing martyrs onto the enemies spears to work their unit into a devastating frenzy.

The War Altar of Sigmar could easily be converted to look persian. The mortars could be oil-throwers.

Granted, it may come out looking a little more Maltese than Arabian, but I can't think of a more historical blending of dark ages tech with Arabian influence than the Maltese.
