Blaktoof and Orock: Sorry, but you are both mistaken.

Vehicle squadrons take cover saves as per ANY other unit. This means that you count the nember of models in the unit with a cover save. If 1/2 or more have a cover save, then the whole unit benefits. If less than 1/2 have a cover save, then none of the unit benefits.

blaktoof wrote:There is not actually a rule for vehicle squadrons getting cover in the brb, only for infantry units, the vehicle section goes on to state vehicles cannot get cover like infantry but can be obscured for hull down, so there is no "cover" for vehicles.

Orock wrote:as an ork player I wish this wasent true, but it does say vehicle squads dont have a majority in or out for obscured, its on a vehicle by vehicle basis.

"Use the rules for vehicles to determine if each vehicle is in cover (ignoring other members of the squadron, as if they were not there), and then use the rules for normal units to work out if the entire squadron is in cover or not."

Squadrons do not take cover saves on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis. They do take a majority cover save.

Yes but there is no cover save for vehicles there is a save for being obscured and in the case of this piece of war gear the FAQ states that models in the squad not within range are. Not obscured. They are obviously addressing the unit as a whole and do not include the majority squadron rule in the FAQ for a reason. What do you think it means that models not within 6" do not count as obscured even if in a squadron that is within range

You are correct that models not in range are not obscured, but Scott just presented you the section of the rulebook that explains how vehicles squadron cover is determined. If 1/2 the squadron is obscured, then the squadron, as a unit, it subject to benefitting from cover saves.

edit: Also you should take note that the save granted as per the BRB for being obscured is a 4+ cover save.

You couldn't be further from the truth. There is a cover save for vehicles. There is no such thing as save for being obscured. Obscured status grants cover save not some other "obscured save". Please read the appropriate rules in the vehicle section.
(Obscured status in fact also should allow vehicles to use cover save at all. GW has shifted rules a bit and decided that obscured does not need to be granted for vehicles to use cover save.)
