Are they Rhino's or Razorbacks?

I found that the cost of a Rhino is the same as the cost of a Razorback, except you get an additional turret.

All I buy now is Razorbacks, I can try to make Tarantula gun turrets with the spare bits

They're Rhinos. I got them all for really cheap off of Trademe, as the guy that sold them had done the same thing. Bought them as Razors then kept the Razor parts and re sold them as Rhinos. So I'm happy. If I was buying new I would defiantly be buying Razors though, a good tip, thanks Knightley.

Ok so anyone with heaps of Rhino building xp, please post here, as I have bought three and need some help building them. I've never put one together, I do however have the instructions. Just any tips you guys have, and tips for painting also would be much appreciated! Thanks guys,

Are you looking at having the inside viewable? If I want to see inside I usually assemble the rhino in halves, the bottom gets glued to one of the side tracks and the scanner part with the bolter gets glued in as well, I use plastic glue for this part and when I've pushed bits together I put the rest together with out glue then use large rubber bands to secure the body tightly together.

Once the glue is dry you should have a corner-esque model to work with. I usually spray my models with a white basecoat (I think it leaves the model much lighter) except the tracks, which I leave on a bit of the sprue and spray black and dry brush silver.

Painting the tank is the worst part in my opinion, I use the foundation paints first (after white spray coat of course) to get a smooth coverage, I usually water this down a little bit as well. once that is dry I'll wash the model with Badab black and work up the large peices of armor to the colour I want.

Typically I paint in sections as well, the rear, left side, right side, front and top are broken down in the smaller sections and I paint them before moving on to the next one.

Hopefully this helps, and if you have an air brush, this would be the time to bust it out

Thanks for the tips Knightley, big help there dude! I don't have an airbrush, just one of those cheap canister things that is pretty hopeless for anything except applying washes... At some point in the future I will definitely have to invest in one though. Watching the air brushing tutorials on You Tube is very depressing... And yes, I do want to see the inside. I plan on magnetising my Rhinos so I can swap them out for Razors in the future.

Ok so time for an update. It has been a while, yes I know, and I have been hopeless, I know, but I'm here none the less, so please forgive me!

Now, I was inspired by some work I saw on here to give some more colour schemes ago, and before I go all crazy with the simple green I wanted to get some opinions.

So please take a look at my test mini, very much WIP still, so try to look past that, and just focus on the scheme at hand. Please give honest feedback, and tips or whatever you feel is granted.

Cheers everyone, James

I also have some photos of my Rhino WIP. I diluted my primer far too much and got a very washed out look with it, so hopefully I can just go straight over the top and won't have any problems. I also have some shots of some new products I am going to try out. The Maskol is used by my ultimate inspiration, Nerdfest09, to achieve some darn amazing weathering effects, so I thought I'd give that a go. I also got a primer and I'll let you know how I get on.

Does anyone from NZ know where to get the army painter brand from? Or do I have to buy online?

Anyway, enough of my ranting, on with the photos!

Hey james, good to see you with your brush out again (I said brush!) wel, to be honest I actually prefer the original scheme! I think you do an excellent job of painting the ice blue without it looking too baby blue or silly, your lining is great and frankly i wouldn't mess with what's good! no point re doing what you don't need to, your original wolves look gritty and worn but they don't look too over the top either, if you go grey then you'll have to deepen the shadows and add brighter highlights which may prove very time consuming as well (not that this hobby is time consuming!) nope, i'd definitely stick with what you do so well already! go on and show them how it's done properly james!

No photos today, just an army list: Looking for some help finalising it.

2 rune priests,

both with chooser of the slain?? (not sure if i need it)
one with melta bombs

2 squads of 9 GH,

melta gun
Wolf standard
rhino

2 squads of 5 long fangs

4 missile launchers
razorback

works out to be just over 900 points, and now I'm not sure what to do with the rest? More GHs to foot slog? Scouts? Dread? Speeders? Bikes? who knows, you maybe? If you do, please share.

Thanks, James

Hey James, how's it all going dude? have you chucked this up in the army list section yet? that's where the brains are that can help you out with perfecting a list that will suit the wolves and be kick ass at the same time! are you going fluffy list or just a good all round list?

Just a quick update before I head out to dinner.

Some work I've done on my first Rhino, a lot of time and effort has been put into it but I'm not to sure about the end result, so please be brutally honest, as I have 2 more to paint and I don't want to have 3 I'm not sure about...

Thanks lads and gals.

James! my lord man! that rhino looks awesome! i love it, it really looks how I imagine wolves rhino's would look being driven around the icy tundra's of fenris! the chipping is great and the colours work! once you do the smaller details and bits i think you'll find you'll be very happy with them as they come together to form a cohesive vision of a battle transport!

seriously good work bro! can't wait to see more! i'm glad you're painting again too

catch you soon!

Howdy fellow Dakkanauts!!! Just a small update the progress of a Space wolves wolf guard with twin wolf claws as created and painted by my wife (her first time painting pieces of my army). Nearly finished a few minor details to complete, eyes and some detailing on the armour but so far so good. She would really appreciate some feedback!
Cheers

Damn neat job! ;-) looks really good so far, the paint is smooth and not too thick, and I think the beard is coming along well! mind you the lightning claws are excellent so far! a couple of washes and some highlighting and it'll be wolf guard 'o' rama! with your lovely wife at the brush you'll have a massive litter of pups before you know it! (and thank her too for the pineapple lumps!)

Jirc's wife signing in . My poor husband is at work and here I am on Dakka! Life really isn't fair sometimes. Will post an update of the 99% finished wolf guard this afternoon, I am really pleased with end product, it's face is something I feel I could improve on the eyes took some work and the wash that went over it I feel is a little bit dark in some areas but as a first attempt at painting I think I've done alright. Thanks for the kind feedback I really appreciate it. And Damo you are so welcome for the pineapple lumps let me know if you need a continuous supply and I'll get them to you
Jirc should be back at somepoint with an update of his own, I really must push him to get more done as he's loosing pace
Cheers guys!

Went to my FLGS to ask about the 5 man Cadian box sets, as I have always wanted to try painting Cadians. Sadly the didn't sell it but the manager happily gave me a full model he has lying around from some old promotion the shop was running. So this is a WIP I have of him. Didn't like his head so I have taken it off and started again. Tell me what you think.
