Enigmatic Sorcerer of Chaos

I think they will be worth it against armies that don't have an unholy amount of warmachines, but since I was playing against Empire (and Nuln no less), they were just rolling all over the Monsters, and only because the bases are impossible to miss. They wouldn't even measure, just "10 inches from the back of the base" and it hits. Was quite sad. Hopefully I can get a game in against something with a few (or alot) less warmachines, just so I can see what they do in combat (yelling and bawling giants don't count!).

Yeah, you need a game against Warriors of Chaos, or even DE or HE, as the only war machines they get are S6. Just the magic to watch out for then
Just played a game of SoM with my dark elves against my friends empire. And, somehow, through oblivion and miscast, we managed to destroy ALL the fulcrums on the table. There was this odd silence and we look at each other as if to say 'what now?' Then we just laughed.
We called the game a draw.

Lol. Awkward wargaming moment.
I wonder if that has been FAQed or something. But i think what you did was probably the right thing.

It's in the SoM book actually. In the event that both players are holding an equal number of Fulcrums, you go to Victory Points.

Hellcannon is still a 10 if they can direct hit you, but yeah - its a lot less painful than if you take a direct hit from a cannon shot. Cannons are way too good at killing monsters this time around - the lack of any real scatter means you're just going to take hit after hit. I feel bad for High Elves though, especially since they don't have much to stop high toughness monsters before they get into close combat.
Still, Stand and Shoot is almost as bad as war machines as far as getting into close combat goes. Yeah your monster is tough, but when you take tons of S3 hits, some of them are going to wound.
edit: Fagh, realized I was looking at something from a few months ago after I had replied to it. Sorry for the Necro.

Zoat.
For 310pts bad guy armies get access to a level 4 Wizard with access to the Lore of Life (something armies like Dark Elves and Vampire Counts normally have to miss out on). Now you too can have Toughness 8 units of Grave Guard, or have your Black Guard rise back from where they have been unfairly gunned down on their way to combat.
Plus, it's a freaking Zoat! I have a reason to actually put that model on the table, something I haven't had a reason to do in well over a decade.

Wondering Why the Emperor Left
|
Has anyone tried any pegasus in large numbers with the breath weapon?
Are they better than great eagles?
Also they are a lot cheaper to buy money wise than great eagles, £6.65 for a pegasus over £10.75 for a wood elf eagle or £15.50 for a high elf one.
Also there on foot and so are better for hiding them.
Stats comparison:
Same S,T,W,I,A
Eagles got better ld by 2
Eagles got better WS by 2
Pegasi can have a breath wep or +1 S on charge
Pegasi have M8 not 2 so can move when there's no flying happening
anything i've missed?
