Ya the Stormraven is the sole reason I'm remodeling my vanilla marines into a BA successor chapter so I can get one.

Lol I'm suprised that the WD didn't say that the DA or the RG could use it.. or the ultramarines because almost everything usually goes through them before others can use it haha

Honestly, I'm surprised it didn't say "CHAPTER APPROVED" or somesuch on the article. It wasn't that long ago that GW published the rules for the Night Spinner in White Dwarf, complete with a blurb saying you could use it officially in an Eldar army. They had an article for the Stormraven that was formatted the exact same way, gave all the rules for the thing and then... nothing. Just sticking a little box of text in that article would have let them sell Stormravens to every Space Marine player in the world, but no dice. I'm not a huge fan of the thing but I like it alright. Never actually seen one in-game though, outside of online battle reports.

They could be making a lot more money if they release it to every chapter... and it seems like that's what they're about haha

Nope, the WD article had nothing to this end.

it was, prior to the release, rumored the WD article would allow everyone to take it, but it didn't.

I'd just let some one use it if they wanted to. The thing is just one big luckbox. Most good lists will blow it out of the sky and strand its usual 600+ point cargo since it's GK/BA.

The stormraven for BA is not as squishy as you think, it takes a lot of shooting to actually wreck one (Usually) Due to shield of sanguinius.

Also, if I do not get the first turn I usually hold them in reserve to fly on from my board edge and wreak havoc.

Plus, I usually field two in friendly games, One actual SR One Scratch build that I completed about a month after the BA book was released. Waited a long time for the actual SR kit. The real SR does not look good painted red, the GK paint looks beter. But thats why I made my own color scheme for my BA's

I suspect the Dark Angels and the Black Templars will have the Stormraven when their books drop.

My friends let me play my make shift thunderhawk of course I OWN all the terrain and all the armies they use so yeah. My house is basically my store....

You are mistaken, shakey787.

They missed out on the opportunity for more sales be not listing the stormraven for BT, DA, SW, and Codex Marines. Even Angry Marines would like to use it. I'd put an angry marine cannon on it.

Im the same way. I want the Stormraven for my Dark Angels as well.............

Your friends are dumb. The Thunderhawk is a superheavy flier(6 to hit with conventional weapons) that does not mesh well with conventional, non IA units. Basically those 600$ USD IA models are designed for people that need to use their credit card to win games.

Unless everyone in the game is going to proxy IA units, I won't play a game that includes IA non-WYSISWYG units. If you want that advantage, your bank account will have to suffer.

and also Movac i own a thunderhawk it sits awaiting some lovely painting but i can assure you i dont need to spend money to win games, i bought it as i am a die hard space marine player and the thunderhawk is the ultimate model for me to own, and in no way should i be made to feel guilty or less talented for having the disposable income for which to afford one, i work away from home often and i work hard so i treated myself

Wow, I've never heard of elitism towards people with money, but the Internet never disappoints! Superheavies and the like are meant to be used in Apocalypse and that's something your group should decide on before the game. Buying a super expensive model from Forgeworld isn't an "I win ticket" by any stretch of the imagination. I can't imagine a Thunderhawk is something the guy would exactly spring on an opponent unannounced either. Cool your jets, man.

LMFAO this is ridiculous. And shakey 787, i was talking about Happygrunt, he left a rather ahole of a comment on one of my other discussions ha. Honestly I think that the Thunderhawk is pretty cool, but out of my price range... but it would be awesome to have one and that makes you a lucky guy shakey 787. I personally don't see what the problem is with having one. Like Brother SRM said, it does not guarantee a win, it really just looks cool. Besides, if someone allows a thunderhawk in a game, I would expect them to have a couple of tricks up their sleeves

I do consider myself lucky, but im scared to paint it in case i balls it up
and no nothing guarentees a win not as long as we use dice, and yeah the first game i am scheduled to play with it is agaist a reaver titan so thats one hell of a big sleeve......

HAHAHA that should be a very interesting battle. You should post the battle report, because it sounds interesting. You should be fine with the painting, I'm sure if you are willing to get a thunderhawk then you're capable of painting it. Good luck with painting it too, I would love to see a picture of it when you finish it, if you're willing to share it of course.
