Too right I would let them use it.

_IF_ it was built to proper scale and sizes, and if they had fluff to expalin away any differences.
No modding for advantage, etc.

I would let them. If they said what is what before the game starts.

Some of the home-made models below actually look good, especially the Titans.
I would play with you if you have home-made models, as long as they are decent.

In a friendly game? Sure! So long as I can tell what you intend it to be.

I am still a little fuzzy about what the scratchbuilding rules are in relation to organized play, however. Could someone clarify that? I can't imagine Games Workshop would sanction tournaments and then allow you to use product that they didn't get paid for.

As long as they put forth a respectable level of effort, either in conception or execution, then yes, I would have no problem whatsoever in playing someone with scratchbuilt models.

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable.

actually, at our store, we would allow scratch built models on the table. its all part of the hobby. as long as its a scratch built model and not a re-paint of another stores (but that was GW's policy not mine, I don't care)

scatch built models I am definatly ok with, as long as it is close to scale, not gonna measure or anything, but if you make a bike big enough to block LOS on a land raider I might not like that part and point out the scale of said model. but if reasonable of coarse, heck my bikers are scratch builds, so are my kans and dreds. but they are all on proper bases and measure the exact same as the gw models. there's a really awsome scratch bult monolith in a steam punk style. (his whole necron army is steam punk themed he calls the the prototype necrons) the monolith is made of wood, tinted plexiglass, copper piping and looks amazing. my stuff looks good but i'm not capabel of the lvl of detail he put into that thing
