Titanicus would be a great stand-alone movie.

the terrain could also be greatly simplified for the Titan shots as you basically just need to do the buildings from a distance.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

I'd love to see a "Last Chancers" film, after all they are the Dirty Dozen of the IG and the 40K universe. And then their could be speculation on who would assume the Lee Marvin role. Or Earnest Borgnine if you'd perfer his character.

Yeah it'd be like that.

If not for the mediocre who would be great, and thank goodness for those who are just terrible they make even those who are mediocre look great

Storm of iron, that was, perhaps one of the best books I'v read, but Savage scares would make an epic movie that could be continued into a trilogy with the second starting from where it left of! With hive fleet Leviathan (I believe)

Considering how much of a disaster Ultramarines was they really should just start over. Hopefully the upcoming game makes a real interest towards expanding 40k into the mainstream.

Was Ultramarines really that bad? And even so with 10,000 years of history there is no reason to just start over, just grab a different spot in the timeline.

Why not? They're not literary masterpeices. They have simple stories (the first book had the most complex story and it was still pretty simple), regular large set peice battles, and cliched characters. Not much different to any other war/action film. They're also short, and length is one of the main killers of adapting books.

What makes them stand out is Abnetts writing. If they could get some god actors in there to bring the characters out and someone good on working up the screen play, it wouldn't be difficult converting those books to film.

edit - that kind of sounded like I didn't like the books. They're fantastic and some of the best Balck Library books. But again, they're not complex masterworks. It's almost like they were written with being adapted to action movies in mind.

It's not that I think they are masterpieces, I just never trust movie maker's to ever get things right when doing a book to movie adaptation. They usually screw up the story line or the characters no matter how simple they are.
